I have a maytag top load washer, about 15 years old. Once the washer fills, water still drips from the fill slot through all cycles, including the spin cycle. Even when the washer is turned off, it still drips.
You have a bad water valve.. replace the valve where the hoses are hooked to your washer

Above solution is WRONG. The valve "where the hoses are hooked up to your washer" is a service valve and is part of your house!
The valve that's bad here (and it's probably just a rubber washer) is inside the washer, and is electrically controlled via solenoid.
If you are handy, you can replace it yourself. You'll need to go to a place like Marcone and order the correct replacement part.

SOURCE: Maytag top load washer leak
underneath the agitator is a graphite seal ring and nut that seals the inner tub and the outer tub. a suitable spanner wrench or a 6 inch channel lock plier will remove this locknut. replace the seal.
