I have a little cheapie Brother 1034D serger. I have had this machine for several years without any problems. When I went to use it the other day the lower looper thread was constantly breaking. I rethreaded several times. Finally, I had it where it would chain okay without breaking the thread. Then, I put the fabric in to sew it & the lower looper needle BROKE!! I have taken the machine apart & removed the rest of the broken needle. I have the finger off & the knives off. I ordered a new needle. Every thing fine so far. Does anyone know how the needle should be reinserted into the machine?? Someone told me that it must be installed just right in order to sew correctly. Help would be much appreciated. TIA

    Hi!! I have the owners manual, but I need the service manual to tell me how to calibrate the lower looper needle when I put it back into the machine. The repairman says I need specila guages to do that & wants to charge me $150 for a $200 machine. Thx

SOURCE: My 1034D serger has a broken part that holds the lower looper.

call brothers hot line 1-901-373-6256 tell them your problem and part no, if you know it if not they should be able to help you

Um, I would return it immediately. If the needles do not move with or without thread, it is not a good thing. You machine is under warranty. Get it attended to right away.

My 1034D Brother Serger foot raiser lever on
mine just did the same thing - i opened it up (you have to remove the light) and it's a small plastic piece that seems to be just glued into place to lift the pressure foot when it rotates... a bit disappointing - i will try glueing it back but i don't know if it will last for long. i am very disappointed!!!
