Yes indeed the LCD screen is to be replaced but not everything is lost you might be able to get it serviced and it may be cheaper, just for your reference check this web-site for an idea of prices: http://www.moniserv.com/doc/lcd.html

Im assuming what you mean is coloured or permenantly black lines either down or across your LCD. If this is the case there are no loose connections that can be put right. The screen will certainly need to be replaced. Ive seen it many times. Sorry to be the purveyor of bad news. The problem comes from the LCD Itself.

Vertical line down screen

This problem can be caused by a lose connection between LCD and motherboard, however you can check it by opening the LCD or hinge bezel to ensure if there isn't any lose connection.

Fujitsu lifebook black screen

Sounds like a bad connection. You will have to open the laptop and verify the connections, front and back of the screen. The ribbon cable behind the screen can sometimes lose contact causing that issue. A bump, drop, jar, will cause the connections to come lose a bit. Use a Can of Electronic Contact Cleaner spray to clean the connections and reseat. If you don't feel comfortable opening the Laptop, take it to a Qualified Computer Tech. Have you connected it to a External Monitor to verify the Graphics Adapter is working correctly?

I have constant trouble with my toshiba laptop using windows vista constantly losing the dial up internet connection.

If your telephone line may have disturbances from any electronic devices at any point then this could happen. Try moving other devices especially speakers, mobile phones and TV near the modem. Does your laptop wifi enabled one? Do you use telephone in that line? If so use a line filter with two out. could you give your laptop model no.? There is not enough details to pinpoint the problem

The screen works on one side but is black on the other. separated by a series of bright color lines in the middle. All programs seem to work and computer will boot up. Bad screen or ???

Yeah your screen is faulty prob a problem with the cable might just be lose. I would open it and check the connection. If the connection is ok then either replace the screen which is pretty easy or replace the screen cable which can be awkward.

Hope this helps

The montitor goes black and/or the system shuts down after only minutes of use. a detailed test of the system did not reveal any problems.

Dear rdg5980,
Try to replace the battery (if it is a Laptop PC) or try to check the hinge or rainbow-cable that connect your Power to Monitor screen, it might be the socket little bit loosen.

GoodLuck!

You need a new lcd screen & while you're at it replace the inverter. There's no other option. Check ebay for the parts.
