this is a common problem, but it may or may not be a cheap fix. The capacitors that energize the screen go out alot on lcd's,lpasma's, and dlp's. The screen needs a surged charge to energize the screen, and the capacitors due this. Unfortunately, alot of capacitors put into the flat screen type tv's have a low quality set of capacitors in them. They should last for 15-20 yeaer, but alot of tv's capacitors are going out within the first couple of years. If your tv is under warranty, then take it to BestBuy, or Fry's electronics, as they have certified technicians foe this specific repair., If not still under warranty, you can still take it to them, but it may be a costly repair, as a set of high quality capacitors can be quite expensive. Sometimes the repair is more expensive than the cost of a new tv of the same exact size! Just bear this in mind.
On a LX2R to remove the green bar at the bottom or the blue bars on ths side using the sky HD box go to menu and the pip menu at the bottom of the list, access input and make sure the HDMI input is on DTV and NOT PC.
There is a part inside
the TV that needs to be replaced. If the TV is under warranty—whether
the original warranty from the manufacture or an extended warranty
purchased with the TV—call the company providing the warranty
coverage and they will arrange to have your TV repaired at little, or
no cost to you.
Since some brands will
pay for your repair even if you're out of warranty, especially if
they've heard of your problem before and it's a known issue. You
should always contact the manufacture first for your full range of
options. If they're willing to fix the TV for free, or at a reduced
cost to you, let them!
If the TV is out of
warranty, and you have the experience and you know what you're doing,
you can fix the TV yourself. Purchase the service manual from the
manufacture to get started. However, if you've never done anything
like this type of repair before and you don't know where to start, I
suggest speaking with an experienced TV repair-person.
If you decide to pay for
out of warranty repair by a professional repair shop, the total cost
will likely be a minimum of $200 parts and labor. However, be warned
that the cost could be considerably higher.
