It has to go back the Olympus for replacement or to seller if less than one year.

How do l free up my memory stick after downloading the pictures?

assuming that you are talking about a memory card ..just get into view mode..and on the menu choose storage ..than options and clear memory card ..or ..just again in view mode..choose a picture and options and when you try to delete will ask for multiple delete ...select them all and delete ..or just insert the card into a card reader and when it shows in the my computer folder open it ..select all pictures and than press delete ..
the fastest way though is to simple select in the main menu the storage ...in there select card ..and on options format card ...this will erase all on it ..and format it in the same time for best performance in the device ..

Olympus u790sw unable to view photos / download

Sounds like you will need to format the memory card. This will permanently erase all the data from the card and then you will be able to use it again. To format the card: Press the Menu button - right arrow to Setup - right arrow to Format- You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will clear the write protect message and the card can be used again.

Cant get anything when i installed the memory card for my olympus

If this is a C-700 camera the only memory card that can be used in that camera is a Smartmedia card from 16mb to 128mb. An xD card is not even supported by that camera at all.

Write protect message appears on screen

Sounds as if the memory card may be corrupted. In order to remove the write protect, make sure you have downloaded and saved all of the images from the memory card to your computer and then having the card in the camera you will need to run the format option and this will permanently remove the write protect as well as all of the images from the card.
The card should be able to be used again after the write protect is removed.

Help

Hi,

Yes and in several methods as below listed. Since your posting refers to a generic problem for all digital cameras and not only an Olympus FE-230, some of the settings may have a different nomenclature or button name.
1. When you download pictures to you PC, rather than copy, select move; or
2. If you want to erase one picture at a time from the camera - press on the power button, then menu button, once menu is displayed, arrow down/up, you will be asked to erase the picture displayed, select yes/no by up/down, then press OK (menu button); or
3. If you want to erase all contents of the memory card of the camera - press on the power button, then menu button, once menu is displayed, arrow right, down to select card, right to select card setup, right to enter card setup, arrow down to select format or erase all, OK. Erase all just erases the files, format erases all and re-initialize the memory card; or
4. Remove memory card from camera and insert into a memory card reader attached to USB of your PC. The memory from the camera will be treated as a removable device and you can view, move, copy, delete/erase, format. This option seems to be most effective in viewing all contents under Windows Explorer with the view setting set to Thumbnail.
5. Connect the camera via the supplied cable to any USB port of your PC. The camera will be treated as a removable device and you can view, move, copy, delete/erase, format. This option seems to be most effective in viewing all contents under Windows Explorer with the view setting set to Thumbnail.

Specifically for an Olympus FE-230:
1. Press the < or > buttons to display the picture you want to erase;
2. Press the trash can button (bottom right);
3. Press the UP button to select [YES], press OK;

or

To erase all:
1. Press the MENU button to display the top menu in playback mode;
2. Select [ERASE], [ALL ERASE], and press OK;
3. Select [YES], and press OK

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
