Won't print makes some sounds and sends out blank sheet of paper

Do a self test on the printer. If same blank sheet, then your'e cartridges are either clogged or empty.

HP designed a quick and easy tool that diagnoses and resolves many printing problems: The HP Print Diagnostic Utility. HP recommends that you download and install the Print Diagnostic Utility any time you need to troubleshoot a printing problem.

You probably need to clean the paper pickup roller above the paper tray. A clean cloth dipped in diluted kitchen detergent and a couple of drops of alcohol, will clean the rubber rollers. Stroke the cleaning cloth firmly from side to side all the way around all the rollers. Also clean the paper separation shoe (rubber pad) at the front of the paper tray. The last thing is to make sure your paper is dry. Damp paper sticks together

Sounds like there is something wrong with the mainboard of the computer... Did you try plugging it into a different computer, uninstalling and re installing the driver again. If after all that is done and the same problem still is happening I can see that the printer could be non working anymore and is just freaking out. Try contacting Brother and see what they can do for you.

make sure that "autoreduction" is set to on. should be in your owners manual. also, make sure your paper size is set correctly.

Perform a hard reset of printer and see if that clears up the situation. Also uninstall and reinstall drivers.

Make sure there is nothing covering the jets on the cartridge. Also how long has it been laying around? it might have dried out, and/or expired. On new printers the cartridges have expirations and it will not use them after a certain amount of time. Also try a printer self cleaning and see if that does anything. If none of that works, it might be the printer. - Vincent

Open up the document feeder and look for a trapped down or sluggish switch

Some rubber lining or rollers is out of line, if you can fix that it may work properly.
