Freezin' up I took my camera out of my bag and the lens was out and this red light was on. The screen was black and the on/off light was shining green. It is possible that it got slightly wet but it wasn't saturated. Can you help me?

If it got wet, your best bet is to put it in a nice warm sunny place and let it dry for at least a week. If you're feeling confident, you may want to open it up to assist with the drying process. If you're camera got wet in salt water... well, there's nothing much you can do there. Good luck!

Scratch in lens

Although it is annoying when you see a scratch, most scratches can't be seen on a picture. Unless it is very deep and in the centre. The only problem is, you easy can get a lens flare.
If you can live with the scratch, forget that it is there and only avoid light shining on the front lens from the side. My DX7590, still has a perfect lens, but I can't shoot, because my mode dial and joystick don't work any more. I still enjoy the pictures I took with that camera.

I have an olympus om-1 and the viewfinder is black. how can i fix this? I had it in my camera bag safely and today i took it out and loaded it and the viewfinder is black.

Make sure the mirror lockup switch is not activated. Take lens off camera, look inside camera through lens mount and make sure mirror is in down position. When the morror is up, it blocks everything in viewfinder.

Lens & screen show black instead of item to be shot.

You need to go into the menu function to turn the screen on (this feature saves the batterys)

Panasonic dmc-fx8 black screen

Hi

Sounds like either your aperture is stuck shut so no light is getting into the lens, or the CCD is defective. The CCD is what changes the light into a digital signal for the camera to record.

If you find a defective camera with a good lens you can make one good camera from the two.

If you can't do it yourself, we are an affordable digital camera repair business (Google Darntoothysam) and can get pricing for you for a replacement lens. Most lenses are are able to install and ship back to the customer for only $70. If we can help please let us know.

Good luck from Darntoothysam com

Black screen when camera is turned on

hi.. I also had this problem with canon ixus 75. i took it to the service center and they just knocked its lens(lightly) when it was on ON mode, then suddenly the screen started working.
But he said that u should use it on regular basis for few days and if the problem occurs again. then we will have to change the sensor, I think he said sensor or something like that.

Black screen...can't take pictures...all other things function fine

andy the reason that you can shine a light on your camera and see an image is that your backlight is not working either due to a broken backlight bulb or the backlight inverter board the controller board failed

Lcd panel stays black

a penlight shined into zoomed back lens - shows if iris is open ( ccd looks like a small xmas tree scene , deep in center ) : if iris is stuck closed , a thorough lens cleaning should restore camera video - if iris is open , the ccd may be or already has failed ;
