The best way to do this would either be with an EyeFi card (http://www.eye.fi/) or by connecting your camera's TV out feature to a video-in port on your laptop. You would most likely need a TV tuner on your laptop to add a video-in port. But the picture quality using the TV out of the camera would not offer great quality.

Hi there:
You can view pictures in the folder when connected the camera at pc monitor? but cannot take pictures or movies... the LCD stays blank?
If this answer is yes, could be a problem with the CCD image sensor, if no, your LCD display go to bad and will need replacement.

Check this interesting article about bad CCDs.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

I have a Nikon D70 and i am a photographer I shot a customers photos today. I shot the first half of the photos on this compact flash card and downloaded to my computer and then put it back in the camera...

shoot,
Is this a small capacity SD card? Like a 512mb or 1GB card?, you have to be careful not to shoot til the card is full, there's a risk of loosing data or corrupting what's on it. There are recovery utilities that can be loaded on your PC or Mac and run with a card reader to get the images back that are on the card. you didn't say what type of software you are using with the camera, is it Picture Project or Nikon's Preview software? Not just the Windows generic camera download. Also are you shooting in RAW? Let me know if I can help, I'll get you a name of a disk recovery site.

Nikon D40 Turn camera on, and it used to display the photo I was ready to shoot. Had this feature for a few weeks, now I only get the menu and a black screen How can I get that display back?

If you were seeing the image before you shoot, there was definitely something wrong with your camera.

The D40 does not have a Live View feature. The display is for menus, shooting information, and image review. Not preview.

The higher the ISO setting the more grain in the photo. Have you somehow set the ISO to say, 1600? http://www.nikondigitutor.com/eng/d70s/select.php?menu=1&sub=b11&num=12 Select ISO setting this way: http://www.nikondigitutor.com/eng/d70s/select.php?menu=1&sub=b05&num=10 Are you shooting in low-light situations (typically indoor)? Try shooting bright scenes and Auto mode, or manually set ISO to 100 or 200 and see if noise persists.
