SOURCE: 2000 Accord LX, 4 Cyl. check engine light and error codes P1457, P1739
A very common late 90's code, P1457 is a failure in one of the evap
system solenoid valves. There are 2 culprits, the Vent Control Valve
& the 2 Way Bypass Valve. So, start working with those and see if you can get the 1457 code off of it.
I also looked around about the 1739 code as well which a transaxle error. However, I've found that there has been more than enough reported cases of problems of the such. Take a look at this link, and do a little reading.

Could be a fuel pump that is going bad. Some times when fuel pumps go bad they cavitate and pump not just gas but also air. If you get too much air in the line and not enough gas the car won't start. Have a mechanic check your fuel line pressure.

Need to know what type of EGR valave you have (Negative Backpressure , Positive backpressure , Pulse wWdth Modulated or ported. Just to answer my own question, it appeared to be the main relay. I've replaced the part and the car hasn't had this problem since.
