Re: tv turns on and off by itself, volume buttons on...
An all too common problem with that unit is the Ssb or (small signal board, Philips p/n# PH3912725871 located just behind the tuner. It's actually a simple fix for a shop, what we call a plug & play repair but the part isn't so cheap. Last one I did thursday I bought from Vance Baldwin $267.82 plus shipping and core. You get the core back when you return the old part. You might call a few shops like you know what you're doing and ask what they charge for changing the Ssb in your unit. Have a great day! Bill

I would try taking the TV apart and removing/re-seating the control panel and buttons. It could be that the mechanism of the buttons is jammed or damaged in some way. In many cases breaks and damage to plastic mechanisms in there can be repaired with a bit of super glue.
I had come home about a week ago and pushed the power button from my
remote but my tv did not respond. So I just went to the front panel and
pushed power but once the tv turned on, the volume was on full blast! I
used the front panel volume decrease to get the volume down, but when I
stopped pushing the button, the tv increased its volume to full blast
again by itself! Naturally I just turned the tv off for a few moments. I
tried the remote again, no response again, so I used the panel power
button. The tv volume was still full blast when it turned on but after I
decreased the volume it stayed this time. The picture is and has been
perfectly fine and the tv was working fine. The next day the problem
started all over and now once we turned it off from frustration of
having to manually use the panel to change channels, it now will not
turn on at all. I have changed batteries from my remote, reprogrammed my
remote, pushed system reset several times, unplugged it for a while,
bought a new surge charge, and even held the menu and device panel
buttons for 10 sec and tried to turn the t.v. on again! What other
options do I have or what may be the issue at hand and possible parts
that may need to be replaced?? Thanks!!
Have you checked your remote to see if its working? If you have a digital camera or camera phone, point the remote at the lense and see if it shows up on camera screen. If it is working then the IR sensor on the tv could be bad.
Make sure the Volume Button on the remote control or TV itself is not stuck down.
These problems are usually that simple to solve, if that does not work, then I can think of no other reason for this to happen... unless someone is toying with you and doing it with another remote (not Likely)
I just had this problem with my 3 year old 32" Samsung LCD. The volume would go up and down by itself, normally just constantly going up even when it reached 100%. I thought it might have something to do with the volume buttons on the TV itself so seeing as it was out of warranty anyway I decided to unplug it and open it up. I gave it a good clean and I disconnected the cable for the panel of buttons on the LCD itself (volume, menu, channel etc) seeing as I never use them anyway. I then put everything else back together and tested. It seems to be working fine now. Previously (for the past 3 hours) ever time I turned it on the volume level would come on instantly and stay on until I turned the TV off. So I’m quietly confident the problem has been fixed. But I must admit it’s only been 10 minutes, so who knows, it might come back.
Please follow the steps below with the sky remote:
RED + SELECT
press the volume button if this works press the SELECT button to save if not press TV then volume again. repeat this step until the volume works. Dont forget to press the SELECT button to save the code.
