turn on the power and open the dvd axcess door, inside where the dvd goes is a small little push down switch, push this down, it is in the upper right side. this will let you see if the laser is powering up,if you see no red light ,your laser is bad. hope this helps
Check to see if the disc is spinning. You can do this by one of two ways either
a:) Listen for the disc to spin after inserting it or
b:) Place disk in drive right way up (so that the label is not upside down). Load the disc and eject the disc again to se if the disc has moved i.e. the writing may now be upside down.
If the disc does not spin then it is likely that there is something wrong with the disc motor. If it does spin then the issue is more likely to be with the laser unit. Try cleaning the lens but if this doesn't help it's likely to be a more serious and ultimately more expensive problem.
If you are using a copied disc try a real one. But this model of DVD Player is made so cheap. it sound like the laser assembly is bad or the motor that spins the disc is stuck or going out. If you are good at electroninics you could take the lid off load a disc and see if it spins if not give it a spin clockwise and see if it takes off. You probably should replace unit for price of a new one.
