Our bissell 6390 still picks up on carpet but the hose doesn't pick up at all and it sounds real loud like it is working real hard. Could something be stuck in it somewhere. I have taken the hose of and checked it but it just had some dust in it. Whats the deal?
About once every 9 months to a year, I have to take the hole Cleanview apart and thoroughly clean filters and get all the trash and string from the roller Brush. I was the cleanview buckets out and rinse the filters untill i get no more mud flowing. ThenI let it dry for a day or two. Put it all back together. About once every 3 years, you may want to do a full disassembly to get to the Check valve at the intake of the Blower Motor. i found mine stuck open and causing me to loose vacuum.

Inspect the area around the brush roll. There may be something stuck somewhere in there. Remove the brush roll to see if the brush roll end caps will spin freely. If there is hair or debris restricting the brush roll may be causing noise.
Take the machine to a room that has no carpeting, (this is 'gonna get messy :-) First, make sure that the machine is unplugged from the wall, then remove the wand with the hose and verify that the hose, wand and vacuum head are not clogged up... check carefully, some clogs or items stuck in the hose and wand assembly can be hard to find! Then check the hose from end to end making sure that the hose is clear of debris. Then open the canister and check to see that the gasket around the top of the canister is not damaged, then check the belt coming off of the motor driveshaft is not binding or damaged. You should be able to rotate the belt by hand with the machine off and unplugged.
I found out that if you remove the front filter holder, tip vacuum back and look down inside. Sometimes there is hair caught back in there and you won't get suction. I had to use something long, knife, very long type tweezers, to pull all the hair out. Worked great after that. About half way through vacuuming I will stop and remove the foam rubber filter and clean it. Oh yea, you will have to use a flashlight to look down inside to see all the hair caught behind the foam rubber filter cup.
Could be plugged, check the hose and at the bottom by the brush roll, the inlet maybe clogged. Also check the filter under neath the dirt tank. There are filters above the dirt container, clean those out. If after that it is still loud, then maybe the motor fan or bearins are bad and will have to be replaced, part #2031214 sells for around $55.
