Hold down the on button until the screen goes black. wait two min, then turn it back on. If that doesn't work, try connecting your device to your computer and go online to the manufacture website. Most have a way to check your device and fix/update it.
Sounds like your screen went bad.
Close the lid, attach an external monitor, open lid and see if the screen appears on the monitor.
Resetting the PRAM may do the trick also:
You reset the PRAM by rebooting a Mac and then immediately hold down the Command+Option+P+R keys, you will then hear the Mac reboot sound again, signifying your PRAM has been reset. You must hit the key combination before the grey screen appears otherwise it won't work.
Please go to Preference option on your navman. From the main screen you can setup the following preferences. Now scroll to 3rd page of the prefrences. There you will see the following options:
Start Up – enable/disable the tutorial and language selection screen that appear when the system is switched on.
Saved Info – here you can delete recent locations, favourites, avoidances and reset to factory defaults.
Bluetooth – this option allows you to setup bluetooth pairing with a mobile phone.
Tutorial – run the tutorial that appears at startup.
Shop Demo--runs a demo so you can see the Navman S50 in action.
Just select the SAVED INFO option and then you will see a RESET TO FACTORY DEFAULT OPTION.
I had this problem when I completely deleted the Backup folder from \My Flash Disk.
Restoring the backup folder allowed the 520 to operate properly again.
It is possible that you have a corrupted APPStartupSec.exe application. Without this file working it appears that the NAVMAN waits in USB mode for ever!
