The negative wires on the older CCD TVR30 camera that i have seem to be pushed inward little bit 'how can i get a good contact between the camera and the battery ? ALSO can i connect the camera...

You should be able to use the RCA connections (yellow/red/white) and plug it directly into a VCR to record. You can also get a cheap capture card to record directly to your computer - but you need a decent machine to process it. There are several sources around for the connection to the computer to camcorder do such what you are doing...

No driver for sony handycam trv30 using windows 7; can't find a driver that will work with firewire 1394

usb streaming is not supported by your new windows OS,reason usb driver is not available. for ilink or ieee1394 connection it should be a plug-and-play connection. no setting in the camera enables or disables ilink output and an ilink driver for the camera is not needed to support this connection (not unless you need to update or reinstall your ieee1394 device driver to get it to work). check this solution link: http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/microsites/search.docmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=C86798&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_KNOWLEDGEARTICLES_1_1&dialogID=157560925&stateId=1200%20157576924
hope you can get to establish connection.thanks:)

DCR-TRV30 Internal clock battery is end of life. It will not charge overnight or hold date/time set information between main battery changes. There is no replacement information in the user manual. Where...

This small back-up battery on my Sony is under the main big power battery, it is like a large screw under the main power pack, I just turn that screw and the little round lid comes off to get to the little silver flat back-up one.
They are readily available from most good camera shops like Jesops for around £12 to £15 each.

My firewire port is broken. Is there another way to transfer?

No. You can probably buy one inexpensive at the eletronics store.

I have a Sony DCR-TRV30 and it just gave me a self diagnosing error C:31:23 and I can not clear it even taking out battery and tape and reinserting it does not clear can you tell me what else I can try

Hi,
Error C:31:23 is related to mechanically misalignment of the tape loading path, and it removes when mechanical adjustment performs, a sensor in mechanical section detects mechanical problem and generates the error. This error removes automatically when the problem solve. For mechanical adjustment contact any expert nearby to perform the adjustment.Which is bit technical and can only perform by an expert.
Thanks for using fixya.

Video recording shuts down after 15 seconds

I just looked at my Sony DCR-TRV30. Not the same, but perhaps similar. My camera records lengthy videos on tape and only brief videos on memory stick. I suggest that you stick to tape for video.
Good Luck

Loose Focus ring assembly

IF YOU TAKE A LOOK AROUND THE FRONT OF YOUR CAMERA THERE ARE SEVERAL SCREWS, ABOUT 4 I THINK,
1) 1 ON BASE
2) 1 ON THE LEFT LOOKING AT FROM THE FRONT
3) AND 2 INSIDE THE FLASH CASE
REMOVE THESE SCREWS AND THEN YOUR FOCUS RING AND SOME OF THE CASE SHOULD COME OFF
INSIDE THE FOCUS RING YOU SHOULD SEE 3 SREWS IF NOT CHECK THE CAMERA TO SEE IF THEY HAVE FALLEN INSIDE,
IF NO JOY YOU CAN REPLACE THE 3 MISSING SCREWS AND PUT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER

HOPE YOU DONT MIND BAD SPELLLLLING.........
