Fabric softener dispenser clogged

The washer fabric softener is clogged. We've washed a couple of loads without refilling the dispenser, but there is no change in the liquid level.

SOURCE: fabric softener dispenser is filled with water

I had this same problem. I found a repair manual online and found out how to get into Service Test Mode. There is a test (t12) for the dispenser motor/mechanise. Running this test basically just runs water through each of the dispenser compartments (prewash, wash, bleach, fabric softner). All ran fine - no error codes. I continued to run the test on the fabric softner dispenser repeatedly and after 5-10 cycles it started draining properly. I think a tube (or valve or opening) was just clogged with the built up softner. I also put some vinegar in the compartment a time or two just to clean out any residue. Be careful with the Service Test Mode - read directions carefully - the manual warns that if you don't get out of it corretly that it can lock up you washer.

SOURCE: clogged fabric Softener

I had the same issue, and ran vinegar through the fabric dispenser with a load of towels. Not only did it solve the 'sour towel' problem I had with that load, it also cleared my fabric softener section. Now, I water down all fabric softner when I use it, which is less frequently!

SOURCE: the fabric softner dispenser is clogged. it fills

Pour really, really hot water into it and that should disperse the fabric softerner...then run the washer with NO clothes in it...good luck

SOURCE: GE Washer Model WCVH6260HWW, Fabric Softener Won't Dispense/Drain

I took the tray out and placed it to the side. Then I ran a common pipe cleaner through the nozzle that supplies a water spray to the tray. So far, so good.

SOURCE: My Ge Adora washer fabric softner dispenser

Dilute the fabric softener, I was told by the repair man that this is a common problem and easy fix.

I have a LG front load washer and my fabric softener stays in the tray.

Your fabric softener dispenser is clogged. Use a long pipe cleaner as if you were unclogging a drain to clear it. After it’s unclogged dilute fabric with water from now on.

When I put in my fabric softener it will not dispense into the washer during the cycle

One of two things either the motor the moves the valve form wash to fabric softener to bleach is bad or most likely the small hole in the top of the dispenser housing are clogged. I have never had any luck cleaning them out enough to work correctly,I have this same unit in my house and had the same issue with the dispenser just a couple of months ago.The fix is to replace the dispenser assy. and then leave the drawer open when not in use to air out the inside preventing the growth that blocks the passageways needed for fabric softener to work

Water colects in lid sometime during the cycle.Drains onto washed clothes when lifting the lid to remove clothes. Water seems to be combined with fabric softener. Bleach holder also is filled with water....

I had the exact same problem. The problem is that your fabric softener dispenser is clogged up with a lot of dried, sticky fabric softener. The flooding comes from the part of the cycle when water that is to be flushed through the fabric softener dispenser can't drain properly so it spills into the bleach dispenser and onto the top and into the lid gasket as well.

To remove the dispenser for cleaning, you need to open the top of the washer. (First pull it away from the wall.) Carefully pry off the little emblem in the front center of the washer lid. Then remove the screw. Then slide the top forward to you about a 1/2 inch and prop it up carefully.

You then need to remove both hoses that are attached to the bleach and fabric softener dispenser (part of the same unit). Then unsnap the combined unit from the washer top. Then clean all the gunk out by running it under scalding hot water in the laundry tub and swirling the gunk out. Don't attampt to remove the blue round fabric dispenser part from the unit.

Put it all back together and you're good until you clog it up again with too much fabric softener; maybe several years again.

Good luck.

The fabric softener is clogged with dried up fabric softener on my Whirpool Washer. How can I get it cleaned out?

You really cant take them apart without breaking the dispensers. Fabric softner is basically wax and fragrance. Add very hot water to the dispenser to melt the fabric softner. In the future, water down the fabric softner.

My Whirlpool calypso top loading washer poured water from underneath, water everywhere, what do I do and how do I do it?? No codes showed up. Thanks for any info. Rose

Sounds like the seals & gaskets have failed. If you removed the wash plate trying to unjam the washer and did not also replace the gasket kit, you may have violated the integrity of the water tight seals. However, sometimes also the fabric softener dispenser especially, gets clogged and may overflow and leak if the tubes are clogged with coagulated fabric softener. As I am writing this, my washer's fabric softener dispenser is clogged and the method I use to clear it has not worked this time - a cup of boiling water to melt the congealed fabric softener. One has to open the top lid (method varies by Calypso model - Whirlpool or Kenmore) to get to the dispenser tubing and reservoir underneath to get things flowing again, and in fact I have a small water leak on the floor where the dispenser overflowed a bit. That you have a leak, if it happens to come from such a clog, at least gives you a sign that your dispenser solenoids are not malfunctioning, requiring replacement of one of the circuit boards.

Front load washer

HI. your model has a dispenser solenoid for the fabric softener dispenser on this unit. If the solenoids are out or malfunctioning, it will render the dispenser useless. i recommend checking the solenoids on the fabric softener dispenser for continuity. The resistance should be 1100+- 7%. replacing this blown solenoid will fix this issue. Remember. the dispenser valve will not function without a working solenoid.

please rate and god bless.

Fabric softner

Remove the dispenser tray. Inspect the area just above the fabric softener portion of the dispenser. There should be a series of holes where water feeds into the tray during the rinse cycle. Sometimes these holes become clogged with fabric softener residue. If the holes are clogged, water will never dispense the fabric softener out and it will stay in the tray. If you take some cotton swabs and meticulously clean all the holes out, I bet your problem will go away. Let me know if this was helpful to you.
