One yellow, one pink, and one blue spots appeared on my tv screen.

The set if projection which model here is, has arced and now each of the three picture tubes used has a tiny permanent burn mark on its screen.

That is what you are seeing, the set uses three picture tubes with screens like the old tv sets===the coating has been burnt in each, want to prove it, remove rear cover and cover any one of the three lens and that mark on one tube will go a way.

Not fixable.

Dark smudges/spots on my HDTV screen

The model indicated here Sony Grand WEGA KDF-50WE655 is a LCD rear projection and rarely if ever requires cleaning.

If black spots or such are gradually appearing the issue on this model is the optical light engine.

Set uses a LCD engine which the lamp shines directly into and heat from that very hot lamp can damage sensitive baffles inside the engine.

I would suggest also you contact Sony as they have on several models extended the warranty for this kind of issue---Engine is very expensive part and several of these Sony sets were involved in a class action lawsuit--hence they are dealing with them.

Do not take no for an answer if you want them to help you---the hinge that is sqeeks gets oiled...........

I have a Sony KDF60WF655 and have a yellow spot on the top left of my screen. Is this a symptom of a bad lamp? And which lamp model would i need?

THAT COULD JUST BE A DUST SPOT INTERNAL TO THE OPTICAL ENGINE. THE LAMP CAN ONLY AFFECT BRIGHTNESS NOT ANYTHING TO DO WITH COLOR DISTORTIONS. IF IT NEEDS CLEANING I SUGGEST CALLING A SERVICEMAN

I have a purpleish colored spot in the center of the screen. What can I do to fix it.

If it is rear projection set, you may have a burnt tube; what happens in some models is a arcing may occur and it burns a spot in the center of the tube.

In this type of set there are 3 picture tubes (what is model number?) The way in this case to confirm this is remove the back and with the set turned on (BE CAREFUL!) YOU cover the three large lenses with a cloth one at a time----if one of the tubes is burnt when you cover that lens the spot in the center of the screen will not be seen.

If this damage is there it is permanent---the tube would have to be replaced AND WHATEVER ARCED WOULD HAVE TO BE FOUND AND CORRECTED.

LET ME KNOW IF I CAN HELP---I am here to help.

Has anyone had problems with connecting an 'HDMI to HDMI + SPDIF + RCA L / R Audio Extractor Converter (HDMI input,HDMI+ Audio output)' to a Panasonic PT-53TW53? I have a TiVo Premiere hooked up to my Panasonic PT-53TW53. I use the HDMI out, and RCA R+L outputs on the TiVo, and hook up to the digital in connections on the TV. The conversion of the HDMI out is via an HDMI to DVI cable. This has worked perfectly for years, but recently I wanted to disconnect the TiVo and replace with my Roku or Amazon Fire TV. Both have a single HDMI output. So I purchased an AGPtek HDMI to HDMI + SPDIF + RCA L / R Audio Extractor Converter (HDMI input, HDMI+ Audio output) box, hooking up the HDMI output from the Roku or Fire TV to the input on the extractor/converter, and simply disconnecting the HDMI to DVI and RCA R+L outputs from the TiVo, and plugging them into the outputs on the converter/extractor. The converter/extractor has a 3 position switch: PASS, 2CH audio, or 5.1CH (via and SPDIF or Toslink cable). I have had 2 of these converter/extractors, and with both the Roku and Fire TV I got the same results with both converter/extractors: With the switch on 2CH, which is where I understand I should get HDMI video and 2CH RCA audio, all I get is the RCA audio. No video. If I switch to PASS I get video with no audio. Of course on the 5.1 setting I get nothing, since the TV does not support SPDIF. Yet I see reviews all over Amazon indicating folks are using this converter/extractor for this very purpose, and it is working fine. I can't possibly imagine that it is some sort of incompatibility issue with the TV, since the TiVo has worked (and continues to) fine for years. Any ideas?
