I had the same preoblem with my rca model 27f520t truflat tv. I used a universal remote. When I first tried with the universal it would not work for me. The remote would turn the tv on and pull up the menu but the channel up or down and volume up or down would not, the light was flashing. I pulled up the menu and pulled a battery out and put it right back in and the menu stayed up and the light stopped flashing. I was able to go to preferences and turn off the fpa lock. good luck this was difficult to figure out and had me very irritated.....

If you can bring up the menu try using the volume up / down and channel up/down on the remote to change your selection. that might work

Hi, I just had the same issue a few days ago. When you are using the universal remote, make sure the "tv" button is not blinking. Just press it and then you will be able to use the volume up and down and the channel up and down. I was able to use a universal remote, and unlock the fpa. Good luck!

I have a TruFlat RCA model # 27F520T have lost original remote and FPA lock is on how do I unlock without original remote? Dish universal remote not working to unlock tv, it will pull up menu but cannot...

Try this -
  1. Press menu for main menu.
  2. Press CH + or CH - to highlight preferences.
  3. Press "OK" to enter preferences submenu.
  4. Press CH + or CH - to high light "FPA"
  5. Press VOL + or VOL - to turn the FPA on or off.
  6. Press MENU repeatedly to exit.
  7. Back to normal
  • FPA stands for Front Panel Lock. It makes it so kids don't push all the buttons on the front of your TV. The power button on the TV will still work and the remote will still function as normal.

My FPA Lock is on and we cant find the remote and we us comcast cable. Can you help or do I need to get a new remote?

Same thing happened to me recently. I tried everything from going to answersolution.com and RCA solutions... to NO avail. I brought an original universal remote and that didn't work. I went to radioshack and brought a RCA universal remote and hit the power button and it came on. I hope this works for others. RCA kept telling me that I would have to buy another RCA remote. Nope! the RCA universal remote from radio shack worked just fine and cost only $7.00.

FPA LOCK

Using your remote, go to Menu, Preferences, FPA Lock and change it to OFF.

If you don't have the remote, you'll need to program a universal one that has a Menu button to access the menu.

Rca truflat locked

Hey this same thing happened to me not too long ago and you just have to buy a Universal remote and program it (it should come with the codes to program it to your TV) I think the code is 704 or 702 for RCA... Anywho after that then you can turn your tv back on wit the remote and push menu and Preferences and then FPA off. Its just a parental control block so your kids cant touch the tv buttons and mess with your settings.

RCA 20F420T FPA lock

Most RCA and GE TV sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset procedure is different depending on the model. Try each method until you find one that works:
  1. Hold down MENU on the remote and VOLUME DOWN on the TV it’s self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
  2. Hold down the 0 on the remote and the VOLUME DOWN buttons on the TV its self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
  3. Hold down the MENU button on the front of the TV and the TV button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds.
  4. Hold down GO BACK on the remote and MENU on the front of the TV at the same time for at least 4 seconds.
  5. Hold down EJECT on the front of the TV and the MENU button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds.
Depending on the model, one of the methods should unlock the V-chip. Now, if desired, you can change the settings on the V-chip by going to the MENU and going to PARENTAL CONTROLS, or on some sets, going to MENU and then going to TV SETUP, then to V-CHIP SET.

FDA Lock

I have never heard of FDA lock. If you mean FPA lock, this is the Front Panel Access lock (also called Child Lock) built into the TV. To unlock FPA, turn the set on with the original remote, enter the menu, navigate to the page with FPA and set it to off.
