You can use any router. All routers these days comes with a DHCP server feature built-in. However, you have to ensure your desktop is set to receive ip address and dns dynamically from the DHCP server.

However, if you wish to have the same ip address always but dynamically assigned by the DHCP server and not a static ip addres, you need to go for a router that provides static dhcp ip address.

You may check Linksys, where you could find one of their model which has this Static DHCP feature.

I hope this helps

Change my belkin router password want a diffrent password

Connect to the router via a cable.
Open CMD (command) prompt and type:
iconfig
you will see a default gateway listed - write the ip address down.
Open internet explorer and enter the gateway address into the address bar.

Why am i getting a Temporary Service Connection error message?

Did you go into Settings, Phone and Network, Change network settings, and inform the TiVo of the changes, especially to the SSID (which you should not be broadcasting)?

I'm pretty sure the TiVo doesn't need to know the router's password, if you mean the password you have to enter to access your router via a web browser for purposes of changing settings on it, although if you're running any kind of wireless encryption on that router the TiVo will need to know whatever password is associated with that.

And while you're at it, consider giving everything on your home network that doesn't leave the house a fixed IP address that lies outside of your router's DHCP address pool, and making that address pool only a little bit bigger than the number of devices you anticipate needing an IP address assigned via DHCP once you've handed out fixed addresses to everything that doesn't travel.

Need to change password

Go to your browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Chrome) and put the number (http://192.168.1.1/) into your address bar and hit enter. This is the network address to your router, that is the address 90% of the time depending on if you changed it or if your router was pre-configured with a different address. Your password should be admin (password: admin) unless you changed it yourself.Once you are in click on the "wireless" tab and select "wireless security" then change your encryption type to wpa (secure and compatible with many devices). Then you can assign a password. Then click save setting at the bottom of the screen. If you connect to your wireless router (using the correct password) connect your computer directly to the router via Ethernet cable (internet cable) and try changing the encryption type as it may not be compatible with your computer. When i try to install my Linksys wireless G, it ask for a password. I don't know it and it won't let me proceed!

Step 1:
Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer.
Step 2:
Go to the Address bar and enter your router's IP address ("192.168.1.1" is the default IP of most Linksys routers) then press [Enter].

NOTE : For WRP400, the default IP address would be "192.168.15.1" and if you place the router behind a primary router with the IP address of "192.168.15.1", then the router will automatically assume a new default IP address, "192.168.16.1".

NOTE: If the IP address of the router has been changed, type the router's IP address in the Address bar instead.

The router's IP address can be changed by:

1. Running the router's setup CD.

2. Changing it on the router's web-based setup page.

1. Check the router's IP address. For instructions, click here.

2. Press the Reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds.

NOTE
: This procedure will reset your router to factory defaults. Any settings on the router will be erased. The router's IP address will be "192.168.1.1" and the password will be "admin".

Step 3:
A new window will prompt for a User name and Password. Leave the User name field blank then enter your router's password ("admin" is the default password), then click OK.

If you forgot the router's password you need to reset the router. For instructions, click here.

How to configure the UPNP in panasonic camera? If we need access from the internet should we register in viewnet.com?

To access your camera from the Internet you will need to configure uPnP (or configure port forwarding manually) and register with some kind of dns service like viewnetcam (or know your home's external IP address assigned by your Internet Service Provider).

1. To configure uPnP on your camera, look in the network settings for an automatic network configuration option - this will trigger the camera to talk to your router using uPnP to set up port forwarding. The default for one camera is to use port 80 for the outside port and something like 192.168.1.253 for the internal network address (internal to your home only). uPnP will try to configure the second and third cameras to external ports 50000 or 50001. My router failed to configure the 3rd camera so I had to manually add a port forwarding option from my router's admin pages. To note, you can configure all port forwarding manually from within the router admin pages. Just list the internal network address to your camera (like 192.168.2.253) and specify a different port for each camera (like 50000 to 50000). You can then access your camera by typing in 192.168.2.253:5000

2. Then, you should register with viewnetcam.com. Adding your cameras on viewnetcam will give you access to them from outside your house without you having to know the IP address to your home network. You will simply type in your viewnetcam url with ":" and the port number (like username.viewnetcam.com:50000).

Note: When trying to access your camera from outside your home (or even pinging your router from outside your home), you need to know the IP address of your home. This is assigned by your Internet Service Provided and can change every time you reboot your modem. Services like viewnetcam keep track of the IP address to your home and update it automatically when it changes (your camera will communicate with Viewnetcam servers occasionally to update the IP address). All you have to remember is one constant URL (the viewnetcam url) and you can get to your cameras!

Safe belkin

connect to router
access router by inserting it's address into address bar
-- if you don't know address, open command prompt and perform "ipconfig /all" command, without quotes, at the flashing cursor

the router ip address is equal to the default gateway/dhcp server address, usually 192.168.x.x

once logged into router, after successfully entering the username/password, you can secure router by changing the default password for accessing the router interface and any other setting you feel needs to be changed.
