Your refrigerator will not accept nor was designed to use a whirlpool water filter. No a filter is not required. Yes an in line filter can be installed prior to the connection at the inlet valve if you desire.

Leaking water

Did you inspect if the hole in the drain inside the fridge at the bottom is not blocked? Try to clean it with a swab. Sometimes this causes a "leakage" of condensed water.

Our Whirlpool WV1600NFW freezer has frozen water forming on the front of all drawers from top to bottom. The manual's troubleshooting does not address this issue.

first thing you would do is turn off or unplug the unit for 12 hours then when you plug the unit in before hand you would remove the rear panel on the inside of the freezer. then pluging in the unit again you would have to distinguish if this is caused by your icemaker and the water not going into the ice tray or if you have a defrost issue with your unit where as one of the defrost pieces such as the defrost timer the defrost heater or the defrost thermostat is not activating properly when these pieces do not activate it forms a build up of ice around the evaporator which is found in the rear of that panel but I personally think the issue is coming from when the water comes into your icemaker and maybe the icemaker is not recognizing that it is full and continues to pump water into the unit or the tube that brings the icemaker water is not aligned properly. If you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank this opinion when our chat has fully concluded it allows me to help others in similar situations and if you are unable to defrost by turning the unit off for 12 hours you can use a hair dryer to defrost the build up of ice Thanks Rick

I have a Whirlpool model # ET1CHEXVB00 refridgerator. I just (few minutes ago) replaced the ice maker valve because water was no longer getting to the icemaker. Very shortly after I plugged the...

Sounds like the fill tube at the ice maker is either out of alignment or has a crack in it.

The water supply line from the water inlet valve enters the rear of the freezer and releases the water into a large diameter fill tube. The fill tubes hangs above the fill cup which funnels the water into the ice mold. If the fill tube and fill cup are improperly aligned, water may spill out instead of going into the mold.

Water in freezer

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

We really need just a little more information please.

1. With or without Icemaker
2. Temperature in freshfood and freezer compartment normal?
i.e no frozen food in the fresh food compartment or ice cream getting soft. Slow making ice etc. (if installed)

Without a model number it is difficult to speak directly about your unit. That infromation would be important in order for us to better help you.

Speaking generally.... Top freezer models have the evaporator coils in the back of the freezer compartment.

If the evaporator drain gets clogged, each time the unit defrosts you would see water sheeting from the back of the freezer to the front.

Also if the door seal is torn or has come loose from the door then condensation will form in the area of the damaged door seal so the water source then would be near the damaged door seal.

If there is an icemaker installed it can be leaking or over filling.

If you respond please provide a model number.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Kelly

Water is dripping down the back of the refrigerator inside and pool in the bottom of the refrigerator. Whirlpool/ freezer on top ET-1CHMXKQ02. Freezer is still working and icemaker is still making ice.

Defrost drain tube is clogged. Have to clear this by removing back wall inside freezer and removing the ice build up inside the defrost tray and tube. Very very hot water and hairdryer will help with this process. hope this helps.

Ice maker not producing any ice.

Pour about 1/2 cup of water into icemaker . Squeeze the black fill tub which is above the icemaker cup . If ice apears to be in it , this indicates that the weter valve is not completely closing , letting a drip ocasionally go thru and freezing inside the tube , ( water valve bad ) . that will be a different solution . If the icemaker dumps the cubes after freezing . and black tube is not frozen , replace the water inlet valve . If the icemaker does not dump the ice after frozen , replace the icemaker ( only 1 screw holds the icemaker in , located on rear portion on right , faceing down . Also check the icemaker rake , which should be about the 2:30 position . To thaw out the black tube (which runs thru the top of the refrig ) a 1/4 push on connector will be needed . Remove the icemaker and use a hairdryer aimed up into the hole . Cut the tubing to the fill tub behind the fridge about 9 inches from where it enters the top of the fridge . This will let warm air inside the top fill line to help thaw . Ocassionally blow thru the 9 inch tube until you can blow thru it . May take a day or 2 , depending how frozen the line is . Once air will go thru , install the push on connector to couple the cut lines back togather .

The blinking red light on the right side , is the receiver for the electric eye for cutting off the icemaker when the door bin is full , This blinking is normal . 2 blinks ...pause...2 blinks..etc .

Do not replace the filter if water flow is good thru the dispensor .

Water leaking from icemaker on outside

If this is your water dispenser leaking
Your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking. disconnect the water line coming out of it and see if you have a slow drip. Try the dispenser to see if it's just drips after use.

Is the icemaker arm in the up position, which is the off position, as simple as it sounds this may be the problem.
