Dishwasher detergent won't dissolve

We just got our new dishwasher, Whirlpool 24 inch built in, model DU930PWSQ this past January. We have a problem almost everytime we use it, the detergent won't dissolve, so nothing gets clean. The gel pack will just sit at the bottom of the washer, sometimes it even looks brand-new still!

And the times that it does actually dissolve, the dishes are never clean.

We've turned up the water temp, but that didn't seem to do anything... any other ideas?

Recommend you stop using the gel and switch to a brand name powder - like Electrosol or Cascade. Never use gel, gel packs or tablets in any dishwasher. Avoid untra-cheap, generic powders.
If problems continue, a service call, with them checking that the heating element is working is the follow up step.
Good Luck!

D/w doesn't dissolve deterg. & therefore not washing dishes

Do this test:
-Upgrade to a name brand detergent like Cascade or Electrosol.
-Do not over fill the dispenser cup
-Do not place large items near the door/near the dispenser cup.
-Make certain that both spray arms can spin freely after you load the dishwasher but before you close the door to begin the wash.
Please report back what you find, OK?

Gel paks don't dissolve

Before you start the machine make sure the water is hot enough going into the dishwasher. Sounds like the water temp is not hot enough to melt paks or dispenser is not opening.

The soap fails to disolve!

Having the dishwasher powder failing to dissolve is a far more common problem recently with the filing economy.  People are trying to save money by buying generic dishwasher powder rather than brand name products.  The ultra-cheap products fail to dissolve because their ingredients include bulk fillers with minerals, etc.
It is possible that the dispenser is failing to open, but that is a generally rare problem except on very, very old dishwashers. Before deciding the dishwasher has failed, go buy a box of brand name (Electrosol or Cascade) dishwasher detergent powder and only use it.
Please report back your results here, OK?  Good Luck!
