The four star rating for the best solution should be rescinded since it has problems. The resolution can only be set to 150. If you try to change it, it sets itself to 6. Only by doing a reset can it be changed back to 150.

The VueScan program will work, but you have to go into device manager (Right-click "My computer" choose "Manage" select "Device Manager")

In device manager, you will probably see the scanner detected with a yellow triangle. Right-click the scanner and choose "Upgrade Driver" then choose "browse my computer for updated driver" and browse the the "VueScan" folder on your C drive.

Once you do that Vista will update to the VueScan Driver and you'll be ready to go (once you pay the nice folks at VueScan so that your scans don't have watermarks on them)

I got my Agfa Snapscan 1212U scanner to work fine with Windows 7. All I did was to install the XP Agfa Scanwise 2.0.0.9 software FIRST (available from Agfa website). Then I went to Devices and Printers, right-clicked on the 1212U and chose "Troubleshoot" - Windows then found and installed the driver automatically.

Should be the same for Vista.

Hello Silverdragon, this VueScan program looks good but it does not fix the problem under vista for the snapscan 1212u. It still says the scanner is not turned on while it is turned on.

SOURCE: New drivers...

Ony by downloading the revised driver from Agfa, Going on past experience when the great move from 98[DOS] to XP[NTFS] happened it can be a fraught experience and very often a new scanner in this Case VISTA compatible could be the answer.

I have a Agfa SnapScan 1212u, but I can't find a driver to it. I have the system Windows 7

Although Agfa no longer supports their scanners with drivers and software updates, some Vista and Windows 7 users say they are still able to install the XP software and get it to run. In another thread, broccauley said: 'I got my Agfa Snapscan 1212U scanner to work fine with Windows 7. Snapscan 1212u and windows 7

I have found out the hard way that Windows 7 is exactly like Vista - i.e. incompatible with perfectly working equipment - for several PCI add-on cards and my trusted 1212u scanner. My solution: I'm ditching Windows 7 and going for Ubuntu. It supports the 1212u fine with the SANE package. It's ridiculously wasteful to toss working peripherals just because Microsoft can't be bothered to offer decent support for its paid software.

Are there drivers for the agfa snapscan 1212u in windows 7 platform?

As far as I can tell, the driver has not been updated for either VIsta or Windows 7. If you have Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate, you have a workaround option. Install the XP mode and then install the scanner to that virtual PC.

I hope this helps.
