Question about Archos 704 WiFi Digital Media Player

Archos 704 wifi

I treated myself to the 704 wi fi. I would really appreciate some help with setting this one up. I have done all the basics and even paid extra for both the plug ins... I think I have done the download right but when I try and paly a real MPEG on the 704 it tells me it is unable to play. This is driving me nuts and you are my only hope!! I have called cust support on the premium rate line and keep getting cut off. I will gladly call someone if they can help with this problem.

I can't get it to go on my wi-fi. Help!

1st pass, go into the settings (the gear icon) amd make sure that wi-fi is turned on. I don't recall mine doing that but that was a couple of tablets (several years) ago.
2nd pass, if the wi-fi is on, make sure it is seeing your wi-fi hub (router).
3rd pass, if the wi-fi is on and you can log into the router with another machine (like a laptop or smart phone) then it's time to get it replaced and hope the warranty is still in effect. If the warranty has expired, go onto ebay or Amazon and get a real tablet. iRulu was my first tablet and I consider it to have been a piece of junk. Definitely not worth even the small price I paid for it.

Couple of issue here i see,
- Either your connection is really really slow which is possible and cannot be ruled out depending on the mbps you have
- Either your PC has lower storage space and because it has a lot of data it is acting up.
- Other people have secure Wi-Fi connection and maybe u need their password to connect it to their wi-fi . even if it is an open connection you should be in the range to get a good speed. hope this helps.

When i turn on wifi it just keeps on searching but does finds any network

Please make sure that you actually do have a Wi-Fi network.Going by your name i'm guessing you're from India. There are very very few places here that support Wi-fi.To test your Wi-Fi functionality , go to a place that you know for sure has Wi-fi support. Even then it is unlikely that you will be able to use Wi-fi for free, it's usually a pre-paid service, that includes buying certain amount of download limit.

My Iphone wifi button is grey out

Resolution First, sync your iPhone or iPod touch to iTunes to backup your user information, Contacts, Calendar, and other data. Then try the following steps in order.
One On the device, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Check to see if the device now displays the Wi-Fi address or Bluetooth address (tap Settings > General > About and scroll down to Wi-Fi Address or Bluetooth). If there is a Wi-Fi address and a Bluetooh address, then you're done with these steps and you can resync your settings and your media using iTunes.
If there's still no Wi-Fi address or Bluetooth address, then continue to step two.
Two On the device, tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Check to see if the device now displays the Wi-Fi address and Bluetooth address (tap Settings > General > About and scroll down to Wi-Fi Address or Bluetooth). If there is a Wi-Fi address and Bluetooth address, then you're done with these steps and can resync your settings and your media using iTunes.
If there's still no Wi-Fi dddress or Bluetooth address, then continue to step three.
Three
  1. Restore the iPhone or iPod touch software (this erases all data on the device) using iTunes (see article 305744 for additional assistance).
  2. After the restore is complete, sync your previous settings (mail settings, text messages, notes, call history, contact favorites, and so on).
  3. Now see if your device shows a Wi-Fi address and Bluetooth address (tap Settings > General > About and scroll down to Wi-Fi Address or Bluetooth).
If there is a Wi-Fi address and Bluetooth address, then you're done with these steps. If there is no Wi-Fi address or Bluetooth address, then continue to step four.
Four If there is no Wi-Fi address or Bluetooth address listed after doing the above steps, then your iPhone or iPod touch may need to be repaired. See the iPhone Service FAQ or iPod Service FAQ for additional service information.

Connecting my i-touch to a Wi-Fi connection

Yup....you'll need a small router. I use a DLink WirelessB unit. Ask your local computer store for a small router, just an inexpensive unit. DLink or Linksys are the best. If you're uncomfortable trying to set up a home network, get the Geek Squad to do it for you. If you have any more questions, get back to me and I'll try to help more.

Cannot get ipod touch to connect to wireless network

Many Wi-Fi issues can be resolved by doing the following:
Basic troubleshooting
  • Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and then on again.
  • Verify that you are in range of your Wi-Fi router or base station.
  • Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and Cable/DSL modem are connected to power and turned on.
  • Check whether other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.

Unable to connect to wi-fi

I think it is saying that the wifi "card" is set so that it is not being configured by windows.

In XP

Control panel > Network connections

Under LAN or High-speed internet you will see an icon labelled wireless network connection. Right click on this and then click properties. You will see three tabs at the top
General - Wireless Networks - Advanced

Click on wireless networks
There should be a tick-box saying Use windows to configure my wireless network settings. I expect that, in your case, the box is unticked which means that the software supplied by the vendor of the wifi card is configuring the settings. I find that it is usually more reliable to let windows do it.

So tick the box and click OK. You may then have to reboot.
