I treated myself to the 704 wi fi. I would really appreciate some help with setting this one up.
I have done all the basics and even paid extra for both the plug ins... I think I have done the download right but when I try and paly a real MPEG on the 704 it tells me it is unable to play.
This is driving me nuts and you are my only hope!! I have called cust support on the premium rate line and keep getting cut off.
I will gladly call someone if they can help with this problem.
Yea ive done that to theyll tell you probly nothing u dont already know but but yes i have run into the same problim and have fixed it by converting the mpg vids to mpeg 4 or divix or avi theres www.divx.com for divx or you can look for a free one from www.softpedia.com and go about 3/4 of the way down the padge and youll find a buntch of subcatagories

my achos 504 hangs up when connected to the computer. and i've resetted it many a time by pressing the gold button under the battery next to the hard drive inside
i also would like to format my Archos
I use the same batteries in both units. The only difference is the colour of the back plate and the label on the inside. Clone and extended batteries are different backs anyway.
You can copy files via USB to the 704 using media player in sync mode or drag and drop in windows explorer. Which mode you use depends on what mode the 704 is set.
The video plugin you bought is so that you may watch Videos by transferring them from your computer. But what you are trying to do cannot be done because your archos browser does not come with flash so you cannot view videos in a website. Unfortunately it just cannot be done. I also have a 704 and was very disapointed to learn that I cannot watch videos from websites.
I had exactly the same problem and solved it myself yesterday after months of phoning/emailing Archos "customer support" - with my set up anyway it was my WEP password on my BT wireless router was wrong, I changed it on my pc to the one that was on the bottom of my hub, made sure that the exact same password was entered on my Archos and I could not believe my eyes when it worked. You need to make sure of course that all the other settings match too, IP address, Gateway and all that other stuff I dont really understand, (nor want to !)
Good luck
