Hi there. my sons nintendo ds has a few problems. not sure if they are related. (he swears he didnt drop it but i think he may have) the picture on both screens is very faded with white broken lines going across. it also has a crackling noise coming from speakers even when sound is turned down. it is not under warranty.i have opened it up myself after having purchased the correct screwdrivers, but to no avail. i cant see anything loose or corroded. has anyone any ideas. many thanks.
Hi, the problems you describe are indeed related... the cable that carries the data from the lower section (mainboard) to the top screen is also responsible for the sound and the speakers are connected to this cable near the top LCD screen. It sounds like the cable has become damaged and will need replacing which unfortunatley means a new top screen due to the way the cable is connected to the screen. I come across this problem frequently and I charge customers £35 for a replacement screen and fitting.
