My PIONEER PDP-503HDE 50 INCH PLASMA screen won't power up

I became the owner of this TV when I bought the house so I guess it is about 4 years old. Most of the time the Plasma will fire up using the remote control but on some occassions I have to hit the standby/on button to make ot work. Today however this doesn't work and the MAIN POWER BUTTON briefly goes green before returning to flashing red. I am guessing some part or other has failed ? any ideas ?

Sounds like what has just happened to mine. It momentarally switches on then appears to revert back to standby but the led on the screen flashes red in 5 quick successions. None of the usual troubleshooting advice works. Hmmmmm

Mine is only one year old and it keeps reverting back to standby after a short period. Anything I can do?

Your set is overheating. It has a built-in temperature sensor which switches it off.
