A lens cleaning to remove fungus can be quite expensive. If it is a consumer lens or a cheaper lens then often it can be cheaper to buy a used or sometimes even new lens than for a cleaning of fungus. As for the shutter - it probably needs to be replaced. It is possible it could be repaired, usually replacement is the better option. Different service centers will charge different amount for this. But often it is worth it vs buying a new camera.
With the shutter curtain out of place the camera will not function. If it is only out a little you may be able to persuade the shutter blades to fall back into position. If you bend them, or if they are out of the proper tracks then the camera will have to be sent to a repair service for repair.
If you can do the repair yourself, you can buy either the complete shutter button assembly for about $40, or there is a repair kit available where you rebuild the broken button.
There is only ONE PLACE to buy the repair kit with instructions: DARNTOOTHYSAM com. Do a Google search for 'digital camera parts' and Darntoothysam is the first listing shown. Feel free to look elsewhere but you won't find the $20 repair kit anywhere else and on the Darntoothysam blog page there are instructions to tell you how to install it yourself.
If you don't want to try and install it, there is a repair package on Darntoothysam for only $50 that includes the part and installation plus return shipping of the camera to you!

Hello igby Slocumb, As I recall, this was Pentax's way of mating electronics with mechanical cameras and the success rate was quite good. The only problem with the Pentax Super Program was the rather complex electronic circuit board. Your canera could have bad batteries, or batteries with too low amperage therefore no electronic shutter, have a short in the wiring, etc. You would need to do a shutter circuit check using a benchtop AC/DC power supply to exclude the batteries. Wow - really expensive and time-consuming = complete stripdown and repair. The camera is over approximately 30 years old making it a classic. It is no longer in production meaning parts need to be cannabalized from another old non-working Pentax Super Program. The cost of repair would exceed the value of the camera. Look for another good used model or move on to a Pentax DSLR (digital SLR) camera as your tool. Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer on how to fix your problem.
You could sent it away- I suspect the likely price will be more than a new camera however.
So buy the new camera - then you have one to strip down your self if you are that way inclined.
Well, replacement of the shutter unit (lens barrier)instead of the repair seems more realistic... The part number is: 178739811
Please contact your nearest Sony Service for the price estimate.
