Have you tried resetting the unit?

Tomtom1version3 power on light on but will not switch on. Same problem using mains charger or in car power supply. Also computer is not picking the unit up as an external device

I'm afraid you have the green light of death. This happens when the car charger delivers more power than the TomTom can handle and it blows a couple of diodes.

Try doing a device update while connected to tomtom home, if that doesnt work backup your device onto your commputer and try reinstalling the software and maps ect onto your device.

Tomtom wont come on

More than likely the negative post on your 910 is not making a contact. This is a known problem for the X10 series tt's. It can be fixed but you have to disassemble the tt to do it. No just replacing the battery won't fix your problem. If it was just a battery problem your tt would still boot up if connected to external power.

If the unit is still under warranty, send it back to Tomtom. Even if the unit is no longer under warranty, complain to Tomtom. There is a problem with the CLA (cigarette lighter adapter). It can cause internal damages to your Tomtom. What happens is that there are three wires in the CLA along with a voltage stepdown circuit board. The wire are +, -, and a signal wire. If the signal wire get disconnect the voltage could spike up to 12vdc. The unit is designed for only 5vdc.

If the unit is out of warranty then try the following website for repairs. They can fix the two chips which usually blows.
