Lost only key to ignition switch want to know if it can be bypassed to get car home?

You will have to get a duplicate key from the dealer or have a locksmith make a key. If you attempt to bypass the ignition switch you will trigger the anti-theft function in the ECM and disable the vehicle. ALWAYS KEEP A SPARE KEY TO AVOID EXPENSIVE LOCKOUTS

Try your spare key. It could be that the primary key you have been using needs to be reprogrammed, which can be done by contacting a dealer. A spare key will have the same microchip technology, and because it has not been heavily used, the microchip will still be good on that key. Depending on your make and model, you might be able to save some money and call a car locksmith and ask about services for reprograming keys if the spare key does not work.
Turn the key to the "On" position in order to reset the pass lock system. Wait for fifteen minutes with the key in the "On" position. If the security light disappears, turn the key to the "Accessories" position and wait for a couple of seconds. Turn the key to the "Off" position and take it out from the lock cylinder. Wait for a couple of seconds and turn the car on as you normally would.
Install a relay that bypasses the security system if your car is using a remote starter. Contact your remote starter dealer or installer to ask about the relay. It is possible to also install the relay if you do not use a remote starter. Install the relay by finding an electrical circuit diagram for your vehicle and locating the security immobilizer circuit. Cut the circuit with wire cutters and solder the bypass wire into the circuit. Test it by turning your car on to make sure that it works.
Take your key to a dealer or a hardware store if you have recently lost a key or replaced the ignition switch. Only some hardware stores are able to duplicate microchipped keys while nearly every dealer will be able to help by making a duplicate key with a microchip.

Making duplicate key

If you don't have a spare key, you will have to take the serial number to a dealer and proof of ownership. They will cut you a new key.

2000 Toyota. Key wont turn in trunk or door locks, but will start the ignition. Help!

I would try a spare key, or get a new key cut at the dealer from the vin code. Cutting a new key from the one you have may duplicate a problem with one of the cuts.

Disable alarm without remote on hyundai 2003 XG350L

You must have a spare key. When your alarm is going off have your key in the ignition, wait it out. When your alarm stops in approximately 30 seconds keep the key in the ignition exit the vehicle and lock the doors (don't forget your spare key). Go to the passenger door with the spare key and unlock the doors and turn the key that you left in the ignition and it should start right up. Just worked for me.

2006 Hyundai Sonata; key will not turn ignition; shifter in park and locked; wheel not locked when ignition first attempted-half turn locked it.

try the spare key and if still no joy then its a new new steering lock complete and you have to cut it off with a angle grinder and a big hammer and chisel

Spare/extra key will not start the car

Key must be made by the dealer and programmed to the vehicle. There is a chip in the key that the antitheft system must read to start the engine. Any key blank with matching cut can open the door, no chip necessary

Reprogramming a spare with only 1 original - 2004 Chevy Malibu

the ignition keys are not coded. no "chip" in them you should be able to just have a spare key cut and it will work fine. These use an electronic device in key cylinder that senses the proper rotation of cylinder and tumblers. so if someone tries to pry on with a screwdriver it will disable starter. when this is replaced it has to be reprogrammed
