Text is pushed together because paper doesn't feed through properly. There is no paper jam in printer.

Mine is a lexmark X84-X85 - I am having the exact same problem - paper starts to feed but doesn't get through to where it can print.. If it does prin at all everything is squished onto the top inch of paper...

I've been printing all morning then it stopped grabbing the papers. There is no paper jam. The bottom roller seems to be working but the top roller where the paper is dont seem to be the one grabbing the paper. What do I need to do from here?

I have a similar problem with my x83 in that the paper starts to feed in then stops. What has happend is that one of the paper feed gears has split in two and droped off its shaft.
If you pick the printer up and rock it from side to side you may hear the gear parts rattleing about in the case, I'm trying to stick the gear together again but don't expect it to work due to the type of plastic the gear is made of.

Hi gerby, need to eliminate a few issues to get to the cause. First, check for a jam. Paper jams can be so tiny you can barely notice them. Use a torch and check thoroughly down back of unit in paper feeder, open cover, let cartridge carriage roll left and settle. Now look inside thoroughly too. If no jam, check rollers are even and look same on each side. Post back if no good.

Hello! I have a Magicolor 2300W that has been standing unused for some time and it won't print correctly. The printer feeds paper from the tray, it goes through the printer, comes out at the top - but...

1. Check the paper size your printing on and whether the Same is used by printer or not 2. Try shaking the cartridges as they may have got stuck at their places for long time 3. Try legal or a4 or letter size for paper

Epson Stylus CX4800 prints blank pages

Alex_Garton:

I'm not familiar with the Epson Stylus printers, but I'm going to hazard a guess. If the paper does not move at all, the paper pickup feed mechanism is at fault. One of two methods is used to pick up the sheet. Either the front lower portion of the tray is lifted up to force the top sheet into the feed roller, or the feed roller is connected to a drop-swivel to drop the feed roller onto the top sheet of paper. You'll need to look carefully at the feed mechanism to determine if a gear or clutch is failing. If the paper moves into the machine about 1/2 inch and then stops, either the first paper feed roller past the pickup roller may be at fault. Also check to see if the paper sensor between the paper pickup roller and the first feed roller is working properly.

The printer is not feeding the paper in straight thus not printing straight on the paper any suggestions? thanks Elaine

Have you adjusted the guide so it touches the edge of the paper?

When your page has printed and been ejected, look along the top edge for a "nick" in the paper. This idicates its hitting something while passing thru. look for an obstruction.

Right side of text doesnt print

Many of these wont' print edge to edge but there may be a setting for it. start>printers (might be in control panel in yours) slect properties for the printer and advanced proterties then printing preferences (specific to your printer) and see if there are any settings. many of these have a 3/4" blank are down one side where it feeds the paper. try to rotate the print 180 (in your print settings) if possible.

Epson Stylus 580rx won't identify vellum paper

Ran into the same problem. The problem is that the printer's paper sensor sees through the vellum and therefore doesn't think any paper moved into the print position. To use vellum, fold up 1/4" edge on a standard peice of print paper and place the leading edge of the vellum under the flap. Place the paper and vellum into the printer and print. The printer will pull in the paper and the vellum together. Make the paper fold tight and straight to prevent jamming. You will need to feed one sheet at a time. Also the Epson inks take a long time to dry on vellum. I let mine dry overnight.

I have an HP printer scanner 1310 series. Have trouble with printing. It will run about 3 blank pages through before it will print. Then it will run a page part way through so have to open back to get it...

Hi Audrey-

There are many things that will effect how your printer handles paper. The most overlooked being the size of the document or image to be printed. If the image or text bleeds over the edges (left, right, top, bottom) of the document, several sheets can be ejected before the "visible" printing takes place. Often those first few pages look blank, but actually are the outer edges of your picture or text. If you are printing a large picture or large text document, this may be your situation. Try printing a document with just a few words on it (like a small email) as a test.

The second most common culprit is dusty, dirty feed rollers in the printer. Consult your HP 1310 series manual for instructions on cleaning the feed rollers, or consult this general cleaning article on HP.com. HP PSC 1310 All-in-One Printer series cleaning

The type of paper can also effect how many sheets are pulled into the rollers. Is the paper new?, Thick?, Very thin?, or is it the same ol' printer paper you've always used? Either way, remove the stack of paper from the feed tray, "fluff" it by fanning it (like flipping through a book very quickly, or the way Superman counts a stack of money!) and replace. Print a test page.

Let me know if this helps!

Make sure the paper aligning slides are tight to the sides of the paper. In the case that they are spring loaded make sure there is not something preventing them from holding the paper properly aligned.
The print head could be 'off-track'...
If the text is properly aligned on the edge of the page, but appears crooked it is related to the print head assembly. If the text is not aligning to the edge of the page then the paper is not feeding straight and the paper aligning slides are at fault.
It is also possible that one of the paper feed rollers are not grasping the paper and it is forcing it to one side as it pulls it in.

HP Designjet 110 plus nr print/feed problem

hmmm..sounds like a memory overload..shut down machine, let the memory clear, and maybe reinstall the print management software..print queue issues are almost always from overloading the memory for the printer..

on the feeder issue, check for paper caught in tray or path, and clean the rollers too.
