The machine beeps once when plugged in,just as always, but there is no display on the panel and the buttons do not respond. The most I could get out of it was by unplugging all connectors and plugging them in one at a time until I got 'dl' displayed when the door lock was unplugged. Is it the $200 control board gone up in smoke? The fuse inside is still intact, as evidenced by the beep.
Also, if I unplug the display panel from the control board and plug it in 30 seconds later, it will cycle through the water valves and let a little water spray into the tub. Also, if I unplug the display panel from the control board and plug it in 30 seconds later, it will cycle through the water valves and let a little water spray into the tub.

First, OL/UL stands for "Overload", so in other words, the washer things the tub is too hard to move because it's overloaded and the motor is struggling or the unit is way out of balance causing the washer to struggle. The most common problem is a nut below the inner tub that needs to "float". Floating is when the tub fills up with water to a certain level the inner basket will rise about 1 inch from the center agitator. What this does is disengage the basket from the motor so that the agitator can rotate independently from the basket. If the basket does not float then when it tries to agitate the whole basket will turn back and forth at the same speed as the agitator and this will cause the OL/UL error code.
I have the same problem. I replaced the lock latch and the code still comes up and note I I'm back to square one. Ugh I wish there was a way to disable the dash and reset it.
if this is an oasis model. Try pushing other buttons you should get a touch tone (beep) as a good response. if no sound you seem to have a interface problem. not a main ctrl.
its the power button its a common prob use a soldering iron and switch it with the load sinal button this happpens as the washer alallows moisture to get on the board as its not protected it will save u a ton of money and anyone can do it
you can use a shop wet vac on the drain hose to **** the rest of the water out then you can remove the hoses to check to see if anything is suct in hoses or pump-,mike
This error only shows in diagnostic mode, with power off choose any buttons except stop and power, press in intervals 5 seconds on and 5 seconds off until 88 appears and all light light up. If the user panel is faulted F 2 will flash in the display, press the same button you used to start diagnostics to jump to the next error code and once through 88 will flash and diagnostics will start. Sometimes once F2 flashes and the machine has not been repaired it will stick at that mode.
Below is a link that will help you with parts and diagnostic procedures that are specifically tuned to your manufacturers data plate information. This model is manufactured by Whirlpool, so maybe you can locate your model's failure codes. http://www.repairclinic.com/0078.asp
