TOUCHPAD DRIVERS DELL INSPIRON 5100 WINDOWS XP

Make sure your Dell and Windows updates are current. If you need the driver try Dell support : http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/inspiron-15-3520

1) Examine your "Function"/"F" keys and look for a touchpad icon. If you find one, hold the "Fn" key and press the touchpad icon button to unlock the touchpad. Move on to Step 2 if your laptop doesn't support this feature.

2) Plug a USB mouse into an open port on your laptop. Click the Windows "Start" button. Click "Control Panel" in Windows XP and double-click "Device Manager." Type "Device" in the search box in Vista and Windows 7 and click "Device Manager" from the results.

3) Click "+" next to "Mice and other pointing devices." Right-click the touchpad and select "Enable." Your touchpad is now unlocked.

Try to roll back the touchpad driver and this will fix the problem.
1 right click on 'my computer'
2 select manage
3 select device manager
4 select the touchpad from the list
5 right click on the touchpad driver details
6 click update
7 in the next window there will be an updating option alone with an roll back option
done.,

It may be that you have not got the updated driver for it. if you on dells support website you can find drivers for your dell.

click the download button and install the driver, or you can perform a windows update that should find the right drivers.
i dont think dell offers windows 7 drivers for your machine but the vista ones should work fine. but if not go to synaptics website here and scroll down for the newest drivers for the trackpad (youd want the xp/vist/windows 7 32bit)

Install the latest touchpad driver from support.dell.com

There is a setting in the touchpad tab of the mouse driver. Either Enable PalmCheck or Disable touchpad when typing (Depends on Synaptics or Alps drive I believe)

With palmcheck enabled, the touchpad is disabled when typing

You can try checking the BIOS first see if its disabled in the BIOS to boot to the BIOS turn on your computer Press during POST to enter the system setup program.

once in the BIOS you might have a multi page view, or a one page view, look for the INTEGRATED NIC see if its enabled or disabled. just enable it and restart the system then:

Follow this simple Installation step to downgrade Windows Vista to Windows XP.
a. You have to prepare SATA Driver on your USB Disk. You may get the Dell Inspiron 1525 SATA HERE
b. You have to prepare Dell Inspiron 1525 Wireless Card Driver as well known as Broadcom BCM 4311.
c. For Dell Inspiron 1525 Webcam you have to get Creative Labs Webcam that you may get it in the Windows Update Sites.
