Question about Frigidaire 27 in. Electric Gallery Pro Series Self-Cleaning Double Wall Oven

1 Answer

F8 / Convection portion of top oven doesn't work

In addition to my F8 Display problem (posted earlier today) which currently makes the oven inoperable, the convection portion of the top oven stopped working about 6 months ago. I was told that it probably stopped working because of using the self-cleaning feature. Given both problems, should we attempt to repair it (I have no idea how much this might cost if my husband can't fix it) or replace it? We've only been in the house 3 years, but we believe the oven is about 7 years old. We prefer to spend as little as possible, but we've already had to replace the microwave and dishwasher that were purchased at the same time (all Frigidaire) so if it's not going to last I don't want to pay for repairs and still have to replace it. Any opinions? Thanks

Top part of oven not heating up

Thank you for your post, friend!

Based off what you have described your Electrolux double wall oven is not heating up inside the top portion. It could be a miscommunication within your oven and you can usually perform a reset to clear that out. In order to reset your oven you would need to flip the household circuit breaker off for roughly ten minutes. If you restore power and continue you having an issue with your oven I would suggest you could have a possible fault with the control panel, thermostat, element, or connectors. Typically, this is not a simple DIY job. You may need to look for assistance with replacing any electrical components and I would highly suggest having a professional technician help with that. Hope this is helpful. -Matt

Dacro Wall oven (electric) does not heat past 345 degrees on bake or convection bake but broiler works and bottom oven works fine (for bake, convection bake and broil).

it could be the oven temp sensor rod located near the top of the inside of the oven,or possibly the bake element has a hot spot on the element and can no longer pass enough current thru this spot to correctly heat to your settings a hot spot on the element will look discolored in this area

Cooking in a convection microwave oven certainly is a bit different than using just a standard microwave and does require some special care and technique. Here is a link to an article which describes the general priciples of cooking with convection microwaves and explains some of the special techniques required:

Although there is no documentation currently available online specifically for the Casera line of Microwave Convection ovens, here is a direct link to the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for a model of convection microwave from Whirlpool with very similar features:

F8 heat low it goes up to 494 and stops there

It generally is the IR Element that has gone bad. Look for burned wiring where the IR Element enters the oven cavity. Check for continuity through the IR Element.

1. Check that the blower motor is moving air.
o Blower motor is not moving air: Check blower motor assembly
and verify motor is stalled. Unplug oven and correct obstruction or
replace motor. (For access to motor shaft, remove top panel.)
o Blower motor is moving air: Verify high-limit thermostat is
not tripped. See the high-limit thermostat information below.
High-Limit Thermostat:
o Thermostat tripped: Reset and determine why the thermostat
tripped (See Figure 38, Item 114). Look for excess build up of
grease inside the oven or any other source for a fire.
o Thermostat is not tripped: Check main convection heater.
1. Convection heater is defective: Unplug oven and replace the
convection heater and verify the K4 SSR (Figure 37) is not
shorted across output.
2. Convection heater OK: Check the K4 SSR.
o K4 defective: Unplug oven and replace.
o K4 OK: Unplug oven and verify all wiring. Verify P1 voltage on
I/O board is 5.0VDC (+/- 0.02) -

Bake element does not work during convection cooking

Hello and welcome to Fixya.

I hadn't seen your post prior to today, so perhaps you've had a remedy presented to you already.

If you have not, reply to this post and I can recommend a few test to perform that will determine the issue with your oven.

Off the top it sounds like a possible faulty convection heating element or the K3 relay on the board is defective.

I'll watch for your reply.

Thank's,

macmarkus :)
