My camera is doing the same thing. It took awesome pics for the first several months, then back in January, I tried to take a pic of my daughter outside in her Winter Formal gown and the pic looks like a ghost pic. You can barely see her outline and the whole thing is almost white. Now, I can no longer take daylight pics outside. Nighttime pics are GREAT! I have gone through every menu feature and setting on the camera and nothing fixes it.

hi, you have shutter unit defective. indoor works fine but outside too much over exposure..due to shutter unit has oil contaminated on blade or sand damaged. your local repair shop could charge you around $45 to 65 if they are willing to repair. Good Luck with you!

Orange blue lines, image over exposed for outdoor shots

Hi,
You might have chosen either to fast an ISO (i.e. 800 or 1600) or you have too much light entering the lens (sensor) in other words the automatic exposure is turned off manually or there is a fault, check first the menu options as a rough guide you should have the ISO set around 200 - 400 the aperture set around F6.3 to 8 with a shutter speed at 200 ish, all this depends on the brightness of the day but if you have auto exposure on which every new camera would have these days then that is all taken care of. Try different SCN and ISO to see if problem still persists. If the problem is intermitted, try to find a pattern in to when the faulty pictures appear.

Or else try to remove the memory card. Turn On camera without memory card, now press menu button and go to setup menu and under setup menu please look for format then press Ok, under format please format the internal memory. Now if you already reformat the internal memory, take atleast 3 pictures on a same subject, then hit review if the lines appeared on both pictures on same location, it means camera needs of service please call Kodak toll free 1 800 235 6325., For U.S and canada support.
Thank you!

Kodak z612 black screen!

I have the same problem with my Z612 and seemed to have found a solution that works for me. I discovered that if I turn the dial to the Favorites mode then back to Auto mode it resets the shutter/CCD and begins to work again. Obviously your mileage will vary but I hope this solution works for you as well.

Camera repair

Time for a new Camera. It is about 150.00 to replace the LCD. it is cheaper to replace it unless you can just use the viewfinder alone!!

Z612

I returned the camera to my Temecula Costco after showing them what the pictures looked like. Then I bought A new Kodak 7.1 (Z712-IS). After reviewing the booklet I concluded it could possibly have been the scroll dial on right upper corner known as JOG dial which controls light. But, I'm not sure as I'm not willing to test it on my new camera. By the way, I love this camera. Good Luck.
