Look for some foreign object in the paper path. Easiest way is to turn the printer upside and shake it. (carefully :-)

My HP4100 keeps jamming under the toner cartridge. I have a repairman look at it 2 times and he cannot figure it out. Does anyone know what would be causing the jam. It seems to happen mostly on short...

1) Check all the paper jam locations (see "Clearing paper jams" in your printer manual). A piece of paper might be stuck somewhere in the printer. Even a small torn piece of paper in the printer path can cause repeated jams.
2) If you are using a duplexer, check all the areas (including under the duplexer).
3) Check that the paper is correctly loaded in the tray - that all paper tray adjustments have been made, and that the trays are not overfilled. Make sure the paper is under the front and back tabs. (See the section on "loading paper" from your printer manual.)
4) Check that all trays and paper handling accessories are completely
inserted into the printer. (If a tray is opened during a print job, this might cause a paper jam.)
5) Check that all covers and doors are closed. (If a cover or door is opened during a print job, this might cause a paper jam.)
6) Try printing to a different output bin or tray
7) The sheets might be sticking together. Try bending the stack to separate each sheet.
8) If you are printing from tray 1, try reducing the size of the stack.
If printing from the envelope feeder, make sure it is loaded correctly,
9) If you are printing small sizes, feed paper short edge first (see
the "Guidelines for printing custom-size paper" in your printer manual).
10) Turn over the stack of paper in the tray. Also try rotating the paper 180 degrees.
11) Check the characteristics of the media you are using. Use only paper that meets HP specifications (see the "Paper Specifications" in your user manual).
12) Try using different paper to see if the problem goes away. Do not use curled, deformed, damaged, or irregular paper.
13) Check that the environmental conditions for the printer are met (see the "Environmental Specifications" in your printer's user guide).
14) Avoid using paper that has already been used in a printer or copier.
15) Check that the power supplied to the printer is steady and meets printer specifications (refer to the "Electrical Specifications" in your printer's users guide).
16) Clean the printer and rollers (refer to the "Cleaning the Printer" section of your printer's user's guide).
17) Perform preventative printer maintenance if maintenance is due (refer to the "Performing Preventative Maintenance" section of your printer's user's guide).

Im getting an error mp5100, after a paper jam that was removed and the error continues even though I turned the printer off several times

1. 1 Switch off the printer and disconnect the power supply. Allow any residual charge to fade away before putting your hands or metal tools inside the chassis.

2. Step 2 Pin down the exact location of the jam. The three hot spots for a jam are the paper tray, anywhere between the feed tray and the print carriage, or between the print carriage and the output tray.

3. Step 3 Take off the front paper tray if the sheet got stuck while it was still in the front area of the printer. If the sheet jammed here, you should be able to see most of the paper.

4. Step 4 Pull on the sheet with both hands and steady pressure. Do not tug as you might rip the paper, leaving a chunk of it deeper in the machine.

5. Step 5 Open the back panel to reach paper jammed between the feed tray area and the print carriage of the all-in-one printer. Carefully remove the jammed paper from the machine.

6. Step 6 Use the carriage access door to reach a jam further inside the all-in-one printer. You may need to move the print carriage out of your way to clear the jam.
Step 7 Return any access panels to their closed and locked positions. Plug your printer back in and flip the power switch

Epson Stylus photo 340 r printer paper jam when trying to print

first, make sure you the paper correctly to avoid paper jam.
Single Sheets 1. Open the paper support and raise the extension. 2. Place your paper short edge first against the right edge of the feeder, under the tab, with the printable (whiter or glossier) side up. If you are loading multiple sheets, fan the stack of paper before loading it to prevent paper jams. Note: Don’t load paper above the arrow mark inside the left edge guide. Some special papers can be loaded only one sheet at a time. Slide the left edge guide against the paper. Make sure it is snug, but not so tight that the paper is bent. (For letter- or A4-size paper, you may not need to move the edge guide over.) paper.4.2.1.jpg 4. Open the output tray and pull out the extension. You should also follow these guidelines:Always load the short edge first, even when you’re printing landscape-oriented pictures. • When using special papers, check the paper package for additional instructions. Some papers require using a support sheet included in the package. Note: Always keep unused paper in the original package and store it flat to prevent curling.
if you loaded the paper, it jammed again, remove the paper and tried to print, still the same, its a hardware issue, alraedy, the printers roller is broken

Hp LaserJet 4100 printer says its out of paper which is not the case, could someone assist me and figure what may be causes this problem? Thanks in Advance

Hi there,

Paper jams can occur in the following areas
1 Top cover and toner cartridge area
2 Optional envelope feeder
3 Input tray areas
4 Optional duplexer
5 Output areas (top and rear)
6 Fuser area

Solving repeated paper jams
* Check all the paper jam locations. A piece of paper might be stuck somewhere in the printer. Even a small torn piece of paper in the printer path can cause repeated jams.
* If using a duplexer, check all areas (including under the duplexer).
* Check that paper is correctly loaded in the trays, that all three adjustments have been made, and that the trays are not overfilled. Make sure paper is under the front and back tabs.
* Check that all trays and paper handling accessories are completely inserted into the printer. (If a tray is opened during a print job, this might cause a paper jam.)
* Check that all covers and doors are closed. (If a cover or door is opened during a print job, this might cause a paper jam.)
* Try printing to a different output bin.
* The sheets might be sticking together. Try bending the stack to separate each sheet. Do not fan the stack.
* If you are printing from tray 1, try reducing the size of the stack.
* If printing from the envelope feeder, make sure it is loaded correctly, pushing the bottom envelopes in slightly farther than the top envelopes.
* If you are printing small sizes, feed paper short edge first.
* Turn over the stack of paper in the tray. Also try rotating the paper 180°.
* Check the characteristics of the media you are using. Use only paper that meets HP specifications (see the online user guide for paper specifications). Try using different paper to see if the problem goes away. Do not use curled, deformed, damaged, or
irregular paper.
* Avoid using paper that has already been used in a printer or copier.
* Do not print on both sides of envelopes or transparencies.
* Print only on full sheets of labels and do not print on both sides of label sheets.
* Check that the power supplied to the printer is steady and meets printer specifications (see the online user guide for printer specifications).
* Clean the printer (see the online user guide procedures).

Hope this helps.

The printer is jammed and i can get it out....thus

Using your printer's manual or by accessing online support, seek the way to open the panel to access the paper stuck in the printer. Gently, take the sheet out and the printer will work as good as before. Hope this helps.

Paper jam light is on with no sign of a jam printer wont print.

1-paper is most likely stuck in the fuser, (where it exits and gets hot) you will have to remove it
2-it would be better to clean the rollers w/ alcohol then inside out.
