Toshiba a70-s256 how do i acess the hd to change it with a new one ?

You should have a key,F5 that needs to be toggled. hold the Fn key and hit F5.

Just make sure the speaker looking icon at the right bottom corner of te screen doesn't have a red slash across it. If it does, move the cursor over it and click the left mouse button to remove it.

Hi Barb,

On the Toshiba A70 you should try holding down the fn key at lower left and pressing the F5 key which is the video transfer keyboard command for pretty much every Toshiba laptop. Otherwise, their little pictograms on the F keys almost always have a tiny representation of a laptop next to a monitor.

Its possible that you have a faulty monitor. To isolate or confirm that its the screen, get a VGA cable and plug it into a stand alone monitor. If you see anything then it must be the laptops wiring to the screen or the screen itself.

Instead, turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Purchase a can of compressed-air.
Give your computer a "blow-job", to remove all the dust that has accumulated inside your computer.
The dust has been acting as "insulation", forcing the fans to run faster, and with more noise.

Cooler computer -> quieter computer.

Have you tried a new battery? They are much much cheaper, and a whole lot easier to replace than a motherboard.

According to Toshiba, there has been a battery recall for your specific model.
If that is the case I would definitely contact Toshiba support about it. Maybe you will get a free battery out of the deal. Who knows.

There is a switch on the side of your laptop with enables and disables the wireless card in your laptop. Make sure it is on and lit.

Check for any EM interference near your Laptop (eg. Speakers, Cordless, TV, Music Systems, etc) and place your notebook away from them. The pink screen will go away in due course.
