Well you need an unlock code,ask your brother what network is it from and if he's registered owner he can get the code from network provider.

Yes this is the ping pong senario vodophone say it Samsung who have information and vis versa. I believe I would email [email protected], they charge £3.99 paypal or credit card, but it will cost you this in phone calls if you are not careful nevermind your time, they are honest and refund you immediately if they cannot unlock your mobile. You do need a special FTDI (unlock) cable for it, the original usb cable will not work.
