My printer is only a month old. I was able to cut and insert a piece of dense foam on the left side of the upper paper tray which blocks the paper from tilting to the left when feeding. This seems to have fixed my problem with duplex printing. I'll have to monitor condition of the piece of foam to make sure it doesn't start breaking into bits.
Your printer is politely asking you to please get a torch, and open the lid of unit and thoroughly check inside all over for a tiny jam of paper or something else. I am willing to bet you will find some jam. I would also switch it off, and wait a while before turning on and printing again. Good luck

I have an the identical problem. The printer is new and the problem started right away.
I have no idea how to fix it.
I constantly have problems using the auto sheet feeder. It always seems to pull from the right and not the left especially when I have custom size paper in it. It is a pretty new printer. I will try to see if there is any little peices of paper or anything blocking the left side as suggested. If you have any other tips I would love to try them!! I have tried putting an 8 1/2 size sheet behind my 5 1/2 width cardstock to fool it but it would only pull a couple inches and stop and the printer would start printing - with no paper in it! Please Help!!
that sounds like the same problem I have been having. I have had the printer for about a year, and suddenly, it stopped working properly.
I have same problem. Does Canon will fix for us?
My printer paper tilts to the right as well. I am so frustrated. I love this printer! It happened all of a sudden and seems as there is no solution. I have searched and come up empty. Really hope someone can help. Thanks.
The paper feeds on the right, I believe, but not the left so I get a paper jam message.
the paper feed on the right side (looking at the front of the printer) and not the left, causing a jam message. Dont think there is any paper in there, I have spent an hour looking.
