Hi!
My problem with the X7350 is the scan featur. I use this printer at work to scan multiple documents into 1 document with the automatic document feeder and need to have it attached to email automatically as a PDF file. I can't seem to be able to adjust the settings correctly and/or they never save as such and I have to go back and adjust things every time I scan something. Another issue is the size of the scanned doc. If I have 20 or more pages, which is mostly the case, the size of the document is in excess of 80 MB. I tried using the 72 DPI setting but even on that one it is more than 30 MB.
Does anyone know what I can do? I just got this thing and I'm already thinking about returning it and getting an HP.
Please help.
Thanks
Well you are able to scan multiple documents.. but the file size is more.. the way lexmark software writes the pdf file.. the file will be huge for PDF... but not sure if this is a case with any other all in one manufacturer like HP also... but i would assume it would be the same..
so scan the file to MS WORD or any other application that supports multiple pages... so u have it as one file... but if u want only pdf files, then u have to do a little work around like writing the MS WORD Document to pdf format. If the PDF Writer is not installed with your copy of MSWORD then try any free pdf writer software available on the internet.

Go to Start, Programs (Windows XP: All Programs), Lexmark , Lexmark All-In-One-Center.
Place your first scan on the scanner glass. Press Preview Now to see what the scan will look like.
Under Scan... Send scanned images to, select Microsoft Word (or the relevant software).
Click See More Scan Settings.
Next, click on Display Advanced Scan Settings.
Under the Scan tab, look for an option towards the bottom that reads Scan multiple items before output, and select it.
Click Scan Now.
After each scan, you will be asked if you would like to scan another document. You can select either Yes or No.
Click on Yes to continue after each scan until you have scanned in all of your pages.
When you have scanned all your pages, click on No. One of two things will then happen:
A screen will appear which will allow you to save all your pages in a single file to a destination of your choosing.
The software package you have chosen to scan your item to will open with the scanned image displayed.
Make sure the Lexmark OCR scan software is installed on your computer. The software is available in the install disc that came with your printer. Scanning a document: 1 Make sure the printer is connected to a computer, and both the printer and the computer are on. 2 Load an original document faceup into the ADF or facedown on the scanner glass. 3 Press Scan Mode. 4 Press or repeatedly until the destination to which you want to scan appears. 5 Press Start Color or Start Black. 6 To scan multiple pages from the scanner glass, place successive pages face down on the scanner glass and press Start Color or Start Black.
You can create a ZIP file with all your scanned documents and e-mail the ZIP file instead. Scan your documents, select all the scanned images at once. Right click and select "compress and e-mail"
Hi there,
To scan more than one page at a time you can use ADF.
The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) can scan multiple pages, including duplex pages. When using the ADF:
* Load the document into the ADF faceup, short edge first.
* Load up to 50 sheets of plain paper into the ADF input tray.
*Scan sizes from 148 x 210 mm (5.8 x 8.3 in.) to 215.9 to 355.6mm (8.5 x 14 in.).
* Scan documents with mixed page sizes (letter and legal).
*Scan media weights from 52 to 120 g/m2 (14 to 32 lb ).
* Do not load post cards, photos, small items, transparency, photo paper or the thin media (such as magazine clippings) into the ADF. Place these items on the scanner glass.
Hope this helps. Please rate my response.
Thanks
Have a good day.
The 4550 will not allow multi page scanning into a single doc using the provided software. You should try another scan software that is TWAIN or WIA compatible. Those should work okay if you are using a USB connection.
I've always been told with text recognition, etc. that the OCR is only as good as the spell checker and formatting capabilities of the application you import to. Works is unfortunately only a step up from using Wordpad and I believe this is probably an issue with MS Works not your printing software. Make sure you are in "Print View", but bottom line... you may need to scan to scan some documents to another application first and import the file after.
document scans then saves distorted in code or split on page with code
