Wont start I have a North Star pressure washer that has been in storage for three years. It has the Honda motor GX 160 5.5 I put in new gas changed the oil, air filter, and spark plug. But it wont kick over. Im not sure how to work the levers upon starting it.Theres one for gas, choke, idle, and of course an on switch. Please help
Tip a cap full of fuel in top of the carb to start intitially, check for spark as common fault is on/off switch, If no spark, link the 2 wires on on/off switch together.

did you forget to shut off the fuel before moving your pressure washer? It sounds like the engine is flooded. Honda GX engines are famous for flooding with the fuel valve left on when moving. Or did you store it in a tilted position? Take the spark plug back out and pull the pull rope a few times...you should see the gas that flooded ejected from the plug hole. Once you feel you got all the gas out, replace the plug. You may want to check your oil and make sure it isn't full of gas now also. If it is good, or you have changed your oil then start it up....It should not have the resistance anymore and should start just fine. Good luck
did you pull the spark plug out and clean it ? if you did , did you also put the starter cord and turn the motor over without the plug installed to get rid of the 2-cycle oil out of the cylinder ? if not do so.
If it's brand new, the first thing I'd check is the oil level in the Honda motor. Most pressure washers are tested then the oil is drained out for shipment. Honda motors have an oil sensor in them that will shut the motor off if the oil level is low. When the motor is off, all the oil is in the bottom of the crankcase and the sensor 'thinks' all's OK. When you start it up and the oil is getting splashed around it will get low enough for the sensor to shut the motor down. Also make sure the gas is turned on at the carburator.
As far as the pump gose just use a 30 weight oil they call it pump oil but realy its a 30 weight oil if you want the # its AW-4085-0016 or equivlant . The engine oil is a 10 -30 in most tempatures they say use a 30 wight above 40 degrees but i use mobil one extend proformance 10 -30 all year long in all of my mechines and have never had any problems and there all honda engines . Just change the oil every year some of mind are 35 years oil and run perfictly
do a full service on it , new spark plug /air filter foam , full oil change , also chane the oil in the pump end , carefully remove the carb bowl and remove any dirt/rust/water etc
ive seen gx160 engines last 10 years no problem and those were hire machines
did you pour all of the old gas out before you started to use it. Sometimes condensation builds up in gas tank when stored. You need to dump old gas an put in new gas.
Is there an oil sensor unit if it is going bad it tells the engine the oil low and engine wont start. I had same problem with my pressure washer, i just unplugged the sensor unit and it started fine ever since
Buy a new plug, drain out all of the old gas and put in new gas, and take a look at the air cleaner. If the air cleaner is dirty replace it. There you now have a good spark, good fuel and good air. The engine should start. If it doesn't get some carberator cleaner spray and some starting fluid spray.
