My handset #1 is unresponsive. It has done this before, but usually corrects itself after an hour or so. But this time it is not and has is lit up but is completely unresponsive. It did say "not registered" so we let it charge overnight and then the next morning it registered as handset #3 instead of 1. I unplugged both the base and the battery pack inside thinking that would reset everything, but it is still unreponsive. The battery shows only one car of power.....maybe I need a new battery pack?

If the message light on the Telstra cordless handset 1 is flashing, indicating a new message, but the message light on handset 2 does not flash even when it's on the cradle, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check message notification settings: Make sure that the message notification settings on both handsets are properly configured. Refer to the user manual or the settings menu on the handsets to adjust the message notification settings. Ensure that the notification is enabled for both handsets.
Reset the handsets: Try resetting both handsets to their default settings. This can be done by removing the batteries from the handsets, unplugging the base station, and leaving them disconnected for a few minutes. Then, reinsert the batteries and plug in the base station. Allow the handsets to reconnect to the base and check if the message light on both handsets functions properly.
Check the base station: Ensure that the base station is functioning correctly. Check if the base station is properly connected to the telephone line and power source. If possible, try connecting handset 2 to the base station that handset 1 is connected to and see if the message light functions on that base station. This will help determine if the issue is with the base station or the handset itself.
Contact Telstra support: If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it may be best to contact Telstra support directly for further assistance. They will have specific knowledge of their product and can provide more detailed troubleshooting steps or advise on any potential repairs or replacements that may be necessary.
Remember to refer to the user manual for your specific Telstra cordless model for more detailed instructions on troubleshooting and operating the handset.
This sounds like a registration problem. Try
de-registering the handset(s) and re-registering
to your base.
NOTE: the CS6429 handles a maximum of 5
handsets. If you have a handset displaying
"Handset #5" then you have a 'fully populated system'
even if you actually have only one or two handsets.
You will need to clear each handset ( I ) then clear
the base of all registrations ( II ) before re-registering
each handset ( III ) up to the maximum of five.
=====================================
( I ). First, to de-register a handset ---
0. Start by taking off the battery compartment cover.
1. press [menu]
2. scroll up/down to "Settings"
3. enter * 7 8 9 0 #
4. scroll down to "next page", press [select]
5. scroll down to "Register Clear?", press [select]
6. display asks "Confirm?" or "Register Clear??",
press [select]
7. display reads "Ok" and chirps, press [ off ]
8. UNPLUG THE HANDSET BATTERY
(this is why the cover was off)
9. Wait ~30 seconds, re-connect the battery &
replace the cover
( II.) To clear the base of all handset registrations
( if needed, else skip ahead to ( III ). )
1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold
past ~4 sec when the "In Use" lamp lights, at
about 10 secs the "In Use" lamp will begin to
blink.
2. release the [Find Handset] button momentarily,
then briefly press it again. After a moment,
all handsets that were registered to the base
(if any) will display "Not Registered" and be
ready for fresh registration
===============================
( III.) To register each handset to the base:
1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold for
~4 sec until the "In Use" lamp lights.
2. press # on the handset and set the handset into
the handset cradle on the base
3. within 30 seconds or so, the handset will either
chirp and display "Handset Registered", then
"Handset #x" or it will say "Registration Failed".
NOTE: the battery must be well charged prior to the
registration process, a weak battery may cause a
"Registration Failed". Charge the battery for a
few hours and try the registration ( III ) again.
For the KX-TG5672, you should press and hold the Intercom button until the charge indicator flashes. Then press the button to assign the handset # 1, 2 or 3 (keypad 1, 2 or 3). Then press OK on the handset and wait for the handset to beep. These steps must be done within a minute from when the charge indicator flashes. It's best to have the base and the handset close together when you register the handset.
If you still have a problem, try removing the battery from the handset and disconnecting the power cord from the base (from the wall and the base itself). Wait a few minutes and then reconnect the power cord and the battery for the handset. (Make sure that the base has power and the adapter is warm.) Then try registering again.
When the handset is on, and you can tell this by making sure the key tabs are illuminated, take the battery out, wait 1 minute, and then reinstall the battery and power the handset up. If this does not resolve your issue, then you will want to contact your wireless provider to see if the device is still under the manufacturer's warranty, they cover the first year of ownership. If it is not, I would recommend that you seek out a cellular handset repair shop, they do exist, and it is less expensive to repair, than to replace.
Depending on the type of system you have powering the 2010,this should take care of it.
Leave the handset on hook, press intercom # 6 5 2, then enter the time of a 24 hour clock, entering 2 digits for the hour, 2 digits for the minutes, and 2 digits for the seconds – enter a leading 0 for any single digit entered,
press Redial,
press Speaker. This must be done at extension 200 – usually the receptionist phone.
For example, if the time is 2:15 P.M., press intercom # 6 5 2, 1 4 1 5 0 0, Redial Speaker
