SOURCE: My pc works only when I reset CMOS

Hi, Some of your BIOS settings are not 100% acceptable/compatible with your current setup. I would suggest that you set everything to default, save and close/restart. Another thing you can check is if the Lithium battery needs replacement. Normally it should read 3.0Volts. If the above does not solve your problem, you can consider other things: 1. BIOS update by flashing; 2. Processor to motherboard compatibility - try underclocking your processor by lowering its FSB; and/or 3. Memory to motherboard compatibility - try increasing your latency Good luck and hope this be of some help/idea to you. Post back how things went or should you need further information. kind regards.

1 long beep in post

Hello one long beep, is a failing ram module.

Try to renew the modules, or remove the modules, and insert one at the time.
Just to test one of them for fault.

4x 240 Pin DDR2, Dual Channel DDR533//667/800, up to 8 GB

Here is a list of beep codes:

One short beep is normal.

Good luck

Can't install kvr800d2n6/2g x 4 on aw9d max

What you have purchased is Kingston VALUE RAM. It is budget-priced RAM for generic use. It works well in most cases. I was unable to find an actual 4x3 GB "Kit" on the Kingston site, although I found 2x2 Kits. The problem here may be in matching. The specs for RAM are fairly stringent, but they have variances, and the cheaper RAM is more likely to have such variances. I would try first installing each stick separately in the primary slot and confirming that each is detected. Next place one stick in DIMM 1 and one DIMM 3 slots. This puts one stick in each channel. Each channel operates independently so matching is not an issue. If that works, try adding one stick to one channel or the other. If it fails, swap it to the other channel. The idea is to try to get the sticks matched up as best as possible. Hopefully you will find a happy match-up. Also, check the memory voltage. These sticks operate at a standard 1.8V, but having four installed could be loading down the power supply some and you may need to manually bump the voltage up a tenth or two. Don't go over 2.0V though.

I can't install Windows, (7 or XP) I've tried various drives and each time it goes through the copying process but it sticks at the starting windows point

I'd definately be using a KNOWN good drive or better yet a new one to see if the problem stops. When I say good I mean one that's been through a software confirmation, like tuff-test pro(only available to technicians or pirates, lol). You can also try a different cable,a different cd or dvd drive & if your copy of either windows is a burnt one(like no-one's done that),re-burn it at the slowest rate possible(4x is good) & try again. It's definately a hard drive issue of sorts if your using legit cd or dvd from microsoft.

I an trying to set up raid 0 with two 500 gig wd hard drives on my abit awd9-max on a new install. I am running xp.raid is enabeled in bios. I hit f6 on windows setup installs dirvers but seems to be a...

In bios make sure the raid chipset is active. Ususally there's 2 one needs drivers one doesn't. I use the one that doesn't then in bios there should be a way to set up your array. Raid 0 is striping mode so you should only see one hard drive, the d drive should be the cd/dvd device. If this is right then you did it right. If it were raid 1 then you would see both hard drives, because one is mirroring the main drive for backup.

The same prob

hey there, first of all, just want to make sure you cleaned and reapplied thermal paste after removing heat sinks (arctic silver 5 the best). Next, do a deep CMOS clear (shorting out the pins on your mobo) followed by booting 4-5 times continuously while holding the INSERT key. This ought to get you back into your BIOS. Good luck, let me know if you need more help.

Have abit - kn8 put 2 gig memm in powered up no picture think I have wrong video card do you know proper one

Hey there,

As per ur question, this problem occures due to following reason:

1. When ur data cable of ur monitor is bad : Try another data cable this causes only to blink LED of ur monitor which not allows any graphics to display.

2. Your RAM can also be responsible for this problem: If your RAM goes Bad then it doesnot allow any graphics file to load and thus causing not to display anything on ur monitor screen as well as ur system keep restart at POST (Power On Self Test) Operation (When VRAM driver is not loaded.

and the last reason is:

3. Your system is not able to recognise your Graphics card due to Either IRQ inteferance or ur graphics card hardware problem (caused due to bad of VRAM installed on ur graphics card): Remove ur graphics card from expansion slot (PCI-E/AGP)and then plug monitor data cable to normal serial port available in the motherboard (Resides back side of ur system).

Thanx

Gimme ur acknowledge by rating me.

Got power, but no booting activity

Assuming you have compatable memory fitted to the mobo; if you cannot get as far as the power on self test (P.O.S.T) or into the bios to set it up, remove all components you have fitted apart from the memory and the hard drive and a graphics card if not on board graphics and see if you can get as far as the post screen. If nothing appears and you just get a flashing cursor, then either the bios chip is faulty, or you have possibly stressed the board when fitting components and accidently broke a soldered contact. If you do get the post try putting back one peice of hardware at a time until you come across the problem part.
