Freon and a compressor is about as easy as it gets....Loss of freon will cause erratic cooling...also if you can feel it touch the compressor after it shuts off if if feels like its really hot ....bad compressor that kicks an internal breaker....bad news then time for new one also only a airconditioner man can put freon in no 12 . but freon will stay for 50 to 80 years for i tested some old fridges and still cool fine.

Mbf2256keq1 bottom freezer back wall of freezer gets covered in ice and refrig doesn't get cold. We have to shut off for a day to let it defrost but will only last a couple of months until it does it...

Dear friend! Most of the customers are not advised by supplier how to use fridge and maintain.
Please keep thermostat at 5 degree or less little. If you keep temp in minus will make over freezing and also defrost timing will be after long time. It will create over ice formation around the freezer by which the freezer fan will be blocked or disturbed to work. Resulting to less or no temp in fridge compartment. Please ensure, thermostat, defrost timer and heater are working properly. Thanks.

Refrigerator is not cooling properly. Warm all the time.

The issue could be the cold control, timer, wiring, or the compressor.

The temp control has to be closed for voltage to get to the timer. The timer then calls for the fans and compressor to run. The timer could have stalled after a defrost cycle or the cold control could not be sending voltage to the timer.

My compact fridge does not defrost and ice builds up in freezer section. How can I disconnect the freezer and not use it?

Lynne, the freezer section is what provides the cooling for the fridge, so there is no way to disconnect the freezer and still be able to have the fridge operate.

With the small compact fridges, the only thing you can do is to manually defrost the unit, when the ice buildup gets too much, which can vary, based on how you use your fridge, how often it gets opened and closed, etc.

Some compact fridge models have a small push button in the center of the temperature setting control knob - if your's has one, you can push that to initiate a self defrost cycle. However, you'll need to have some towels handy to collect the water that will result from melting off the freezer section.

There are not many small, compact fridge units that have the no-frost feature of full sized fridges, as it is more costly to build in all the needed components required to have frost-free operation. Not to mention the size of the fridge gets much larger, because of all the space needed to house those features (defrost heaters, electronic controls, ciruculating fans, control vents, sensors, drip/drain pan, etc., etc.)

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Refrigerator problem

I have a Magic Chef 3.6 cu. ft. Model#mcbr3605 thats 3 years old and has stopped working. When I plug it in you hear it start then you hear a "click" and it turns off. If you leave it plugged in the compressor gets hot. Can this be fixed or is it trash ? Thanks in advance.

Samsung RS20....noticed this AM the fridge side in not cold enough and the temp number on the door is flashing on and off.

Sounds like you're frosting up.

Defrost unit manually. Clean the condenser coils. Don't leave liquids uncovered. Don't leave the door open unnecessarily. Make sure all air passages are open and clear. If this doesn't fix it long term...you likely have lost some refrigerant and need a recharge.
