Mtdb 115 lawn tractor will not start

Nothing happens when i turn the key, battery has been charged but still nothing?

I have the same problem. The battery charger says that the battery is charged. The battery is fairly new - purchased last Fall. The previous battery lasted 7 years.

When I turn the key, I get nothing. No "turning over" sound to indicate that it is even trying to start the engine. No click to indicate that the starter is initiating. I have it in Neutral. The blades are disengaged. Choke is pulled out.

I've been using "Fred" since 1994 with almost no trouble at all. In fact, it has been a trouper through more than it should ever have had to do. It really has been a great mower.

    But... here I am.

I'm about to haul it in to a fix-it man but I am hoping someone out there can give me an idea of something else I can try.

Make sure the handle that lowers the blades is pulled right up into the last slot, and it is in neutral.

Have a toro 20074 electric start, charged the battery for a full day, started right away, cutting the lawn, stopped for a break, went to turn the key and nothing, I mean nothing, had to use the pull cord,...

If the motor isn't charging the battery as you work then it will gradually discharge while the engine is running. A faulty battery will also not hold a charge. Make sure the charging circuit is OK and get the battery tested at your local dealer.

Yes, you may hear a small click when the key is placed in the run position. It is the fuel solenoid (on the carburetor) activating.

If it is a large click, then that is the pto clutch activating (as in the blades are ON) and that will not allow the engine to start.

Sometimes when a battery is low or connections at the battery are dirty, you will hear a click, that is the solenoid activating, but the battery voltage is low enough that the starter will not turn. Sometimes this condition has a chatter.

Easiest test for this situation is jump start from you automobile, or charge the battery for an hour, and see what happens from there.

I have a craftsman electric key start lawn mower. I used the key start twice and have charged it after each mowing, but now the key start won't turn it over.

the battery probably got over charge & shorted the cells the tractor should charge the battery as it runs if it was equiped with electric start the battery charger more than likely over charged it killing the battery

Replaced battery for lawn tractor and nothing happens.

You probably just blew the fuse behind the ignition or the fuse link on the power to solenoid.
