Are you trying to connect the laptops via wireless? Is that where you are seeing 75
mbps? I am assuming you are, and 75
mbps is really not how fast your internet connection is. Rather, that is how fast you are transferring data from your laptop to the wireless router and back. Generally speaking, this should be a way faster connection than your internet is running at. Chances are your internet connection speed is 10 to 20
mbps, which is good and fast.
It is easy to get the two confused, but basically a wireless connection of 75
mbps is an
uber fast connection to your wireless router, and only if your actual internet connection was faster than that 75
mbps would you see any slowness due to that.
Wireless N routers are capable of delivering up to 100
mbps connection speeds, but again that is only from your device to the router. The router then goes to your modem and out through the internet. Chances are that connection is not 100
mbps because of interference, which can be walls, other wireless devices, etc.
One way to test your actual internet connection speed is to go to
www.speedtest.net and click on one of the links on the map. This will tell you how many
mbps you get to the internet.
