Try this. The mintek dvd 2580 password " screen " looks like it wants four numbers, it actually wants five numbers. And they are 88888 as set by the manufacturer. Unless someone has changed it from its original password. If you ever need the code for the remote it should be 0717 . I hope this helps.

MAnual/Reset Parental Control Code

According to the manual, "If you forget the password, you can erase your current password by pressing the number 8 button on the remote four times, thn press the enter button to confirm the setting. PASSWORD: 8888"

A picture of an unlocked lock indicates that Parent Lock is NOT active.

Parent Lock Levels:
1: Kid Safe 5 : PG_R
2: G 6 : R
3: PG 7 : NC _17
4: PG_13 8: Adult

It also says that it takes 3-5 seconds to reset the unit to the factory default. I hope this helps! Karen

Won't play Lionsgate movies

Had a decent chat with this user regarding this issue, and the issue most likely is the cable pvr box wired between his DVD player and TV complying with some stringent Macrovision protection resident in Lionsgate DVDs. I've advised this user to bypass the cable pvr box to eliminate is as the possible culprit, but he did not set it up and is not ready to take a chance getting into it. Hopefully he has a friend or family member that the info can be passed on to and they can see if the pvr box is the issue.

Wont Play DVD

any remote should work but i suggest a name brand like sony logitech or phillips because you dont want to have to replace this for a while and namebrands offer more functions than generics.

As for the dvd not playing dvds it appears the parental lock may be enabled preventing movies from starting after previews .

after you obtain the new remote and have programmed it scroll through the tvs set up menu to see if parental lock function is on if not drop me a line so we can narrow things down also try to push enter button on new remote if the play button doesnt start movie.

How do you reset the parental control code?

Called Zenith.  They said: turn on the DVD player.  Hit "set-up". Scroll down to the "lock" icon.  Scroll over to "Rating". Scroll over to unlock.  Enter 0000.  Click on Ok.  Enter 0000 again, click Ok again.  Menu should read unlock.  Voila!
