Reason for fan spinning at high speed after shutdown is to cool down the projector after it has been on
you will feel hot air from exhaust as this is taking the heat away from the lamp, where all the heat is generated
if it shuts down after 20 mins either the projector is blocked, maybe, a fan is not running, filter blocked, or the motherboard is now u/s

Hi, I have a Christie RoadRunner L6 Projector. When I turn it on the lamp light turns red and it does nothing. This unit does have dual lamps and a lamp replacement lamp light as well. I figured if it was...

I have a Christie RoadRunner L8 that fires up,lamps turn on and about 5 seconds after the lamps fire up it shuts down and both the warning temp. and ready lights flash at the same time. It seems to me it must be a sensor that tells it to shut down thinking that the machine is too hot-all the fans work and all of the filters are clean and it is moving serious air any clue and if so where do I start to look for such items? Thanks in advance Kirk

Lamp replacement

Hi there

There is normally a sequence of buttons on the Projector that needs to be pressed ! What make and model do you have ?

Christie Roadrunner 100

check to see if the fans are moving. if not, replace the fans. if the fans don't come up, the projector shuts down to protect the circuitry and the lamp. if the fans are fine, most likely the power supply/ballast is not producing enough power to keep the lamp lit and shuts down.

Light hours getting close to 3000, but picture still looks good, will resetting lamp hour hurt and keep using same lamp be ok. thanks david

No do not reset the lamp hrs. because the lamp might reach the ed of life and could blow resulting in mercury poisoning. If you notice there is a warning sign that pops up in red or something saying to change the lamp, it will shut down eventually during that warning time. You have gotten a lot of hours with that lamp and consider being fortunate to have such reliability. Buy a new lamp when needed as it will improve your experience.

Sounds like a simple problem to fix but don't ask here unless you plan on signing up...take your projector to a "real" professional who'll actually speak to you.
