I just brought a Consew 226R1 (used) it worked great for about a week, now the thread brakes and jams under the bobbin and I don't know how to open the bobbin case or take it out. I have a manual the old owner copied from where I don't know and I just ordered one from sewusa.com they also have partmanuals. I want to see if the manual will help before I invest too much money.

This machine needs to have 2 feet (1 Set) and they must be synchronized to work properly. If no one has messed with it the synchronization should be okay. Also check the feed dogs. You should be able to just see the teeth above the needle plate when it is feeding forward.

The top of the stitching is so loose, it can be pulled out with no effort. Have retreaded several times, used manual as guide. Tension is on 4, stitch length on 2.5 and stitch width on A.

Remove the upper thread. Install a brand new needle

RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning--make sure the thread path is correct.

Set the upper tension at the midway point which is usually the factory standard. This is a beginning point. Every machine is different and may require some tweaking to get the stitch tension where you want it.

Make sure the bobbin is inserted in the bobbin case and turning the correct direction and the bobbin tension is threaded correctly.

Retest your machine.

If the bobbin thread is tight and still pulling the upper thread down, either tighten the upper tension slightly and retest. If it is still the case, then the bobbin tension probably needs to lightened up slightly.

The tension is correct when both threads meet in the middle of the fabric.

The fabric I am sewing is very soft and therefore the stitch does not hold onto the material, works fine with cotton etc. What do I need to do to so the stitch is showing. Manual didn't help. Thanks

Hmm, right off the needle comes to mind. Have you tried a new needle? Sometimes a needle dulled on woven fabric will not work well on knits. If you are stitching a knit fabric, you may want to use a ballpoint or stretch stitch needle.

How do you do button holes

Firstly look in manual. Secondly, search online for manual. Thirdly, I seem to remember that you had to select the buttonhole function on the machine. If you haven't got one then you need to sew two parallel lines of stitching very close together, then overstitch at each before finally cutting between the parallel stitches.

Fabric does not feed through machine

When you sew the machine must be set at the correct settings. If your machine won't straight stitch, turn it off at the power point and then turn it back on. Most machines reset to the default straight stitch setting. Secondly when you sew the presser foot must be down. This engages the "feed dogs" or the triangular looking "teeth" below the presser foot. As you sew, the feed dogs grab the two layers of fabric pulling them through, the thread above (spool) and the thread below (bobbin) meet to form the stitch. Finally, maybe fiddling around with dials and settings you may have dropped, or disengaged the feed dogs. Check with your manual on how to re-engage the feed dogs. Hope this helps and happy sewing. Remember, when all else fails..... read the manual.

Can't get the Husqvarna Viking Platinum 775 to do a zig zag

it's very possible that a cam or gear has worn down or broken
inside the machine and also if the sewing machine is computerized
then there could be a problem there, having the machine checked
would tell you for sure.

Bernina 1300 dc overlocker skipping stitches

Make sure the chain stitch thread is threaded exactly as it should be, make doubly sure the thread comes off the bobbin vertically and runs through all eyes smoothly. Any faults in the threading causes extra tension at the needle despite what the tension is set on.
If this is not the cause then the needle depth and the looper timing needs checking.
