Green Shadowing Around Images On Akai PT4398HD

So I bought this TV approx 2 months ago from a local guy for $80.00 because it has these green shadows. I have tried the "Perfect Focus" feature but it doesn't even get past 0%. I have gone into the menu and tried adjusting the convergence, the image has gotten much better but it's still showing the green. Any ideas on what might be going wrong?

Your convergence amp's are defective this can usually be repaired for a few bills. easy fix for a qualified repair person...john

Green screen is most often a problem with component cables or video transfer cables. First check for loose connection and second try replacing the cables.

Projection sets have two very common problems.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped or bowed
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Green reflections on our 42 inch akai plasma

Try moving any speakers away from the TV somtimes the magnet will cause this problem.

Hi. i have an LG 42inch plasma, approx 18 months old. about 2 months ago, a green stripe developed down the right hand side of the screen, approx 1.5 inches wide. last week a 2nd stripe the same width...

Sadly, the plasma screen is failing. The green strip is no longer functioning properly and the failures will continue to progress.

If still under warranty, get it exchanged.

Green Blotches and Bars

I have determined that mine had a problem with the composite input board. I was able to unhook the connections to this board inside the TV, after Akai, and the local repair guys couldn't figure it out....

The problem hasn't come back in a while, and since my setup is all HDMI/Component ins, I didn't affect me at all.

It looked like there was slight heat damage to the board, but not enough that it was caused by a design flaw, more like a manufacturing "accident".
