Question about Lexmark X5470 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Can't print from MacBook, through Time Capsule, to Lexmark x5470

I have a MacBook Pro running Leopard 10.5.6. I have a Lexmark x5470 connected via USB to an Apple Time Capsule.
The MacBook communicates with the Time Capsule wirelessly and can 'see' the printer. However, I cannot print. The print queue reports an error communicating with the printer.
I can print when I connect the MacBook directly to the printer via the USB cable.
The Airport utility and the Time Capsule firmware are up to date.
I installed the Lexmark drivers for the MacBook/Leopard combination.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

Turn on the printer sharing via the system preference panel on the computer that is on the system via usb.
Then on your wifi computer look for shared printers and you'll see your printer in the list under the host computer name... use that setting and it should fire up for you!
let me know how it goes...

Hi richardhaley,
Isee that you are having issues with your Canon MP610 printer.
You mentioned that your printer is connected to an Apple Time capsule via USB and that it works fin on your Macbook and on your sons Vista Laptop but prints the colored shifted to the right on your daughter's Vista and wife's XP Laptop and this is connected via USB.
If I may ask have you tried printing wireless using your daughters Vista Laptop and you wife's XP Laptop to see if the colors are still gonna shifted to the right.
Also you mentioned the drive that the driver you are using is from bonjour but still you have the same problem.
Here is a link where you can download drivers specific for the versions of windows your daughter's Vista and your wife's XP would have, you will need to select exactly the OS operating system for the driver that you need also there is a software for each Operating system as well maybe you can download that as well for both system for you to be able to recalibrate the printer from the 2 machines.
I hope that this will help.
Thank you for choosing Fixya,

Welcome to Fixya

You dont need a CD or driver to connect to time capsule. All you need to do is to have you MACbook detect the Time capsuple. Open AirPort Utility, select Time Capsule, and click Continue. Enter the password of the time capsule if incase you secured the router.

Hello,
I am guessing that you are using Snow Leopard. If that is the case then here is a step by step guide on how to install the printer using the preinstalled driver from Snow Leopard.

Try booting into single user mode by pressing Command+S while booting. You should then be at a prompt. Type in:
fsck -f
and press Return. Let it run and see if it corrects any filesystem issues, then reboot when it's done.

You can only use your Airport with one OS at a time. If you have OS X using it, XP will be able to piggyback.

Yes,
but the printer can only be used as a fax machine if the phone line jack on the printer is also connected to the phone line jack on the wall.
