I have a similar problem. This unit was given to me second hand. I was a little befuddled trying to hook it up initially, but was able to play a cd through my dvd unit (front and center speakers). Seemed to work then, but have not been able to turn on the unit since then. The stand by light stays lit, but when I try press it just get a clicking sound and am not able to turn on unit. I have tried unplugging the unit and plugging it in again, but the problem remains the same. What's wrong?

Same on/off problem here...when it happens to me, I unplug the receiver for several hours, not just 5 minutes.  (I haven't determined how long it takes exactly.)  Everything works as normal, although I occasionally have to manually change my settings again.

I have an Aiwa av-dv75 receiver that keeps clicking on then off. I have everything disconnected and still clicking on and off. Has anyone found a solution for what looks to be a common problem?

This most likely means you might have some speaker wires crossed in the inputs somewhere. It shuts down to make sure it protects itself from burning up.

Will not turn on

There may be a short circuit in the speaker terminals.

Disconnect all speakers and try it. If it works troubleshoot each speaker one at a time. Shorted wires are indicated.
© Disconnect the AC cord, then correct the speaker connections.

Speakers stopped working.

More than likely you have blown outputs, as the sound you hear when you touch the leads to the terminals is the DC offset of the power supply being routed through your speakers...accordianman

Same problem here...I determined that if you unplug the receiver for a few hours, it will work again for a week or so.  Someone else on this website said that it had something to do with the power relay switch:

Broken receiver

I bought my AV-DV75 from Best Buy about 10 years ago and it still works. However it did stop working a while back. I don't know why. I alsmost threw it away. But I unplugged it for a couple of days, then plugged it back up and it came back on. It is still working. Maybe that will work for you.

PS
my center speaker quit working recently. If you decide to sell your AIWA speakers will you please email me?
