There is a little motor in the selector switch that moves the dial around.  This little motor is defective and needs replacement.  Sometimes it's sold separately and sometimes you need the whole timer.

I have whirlpool du915pwpb0 and accessible broken pieces of dishes have been removed from filer module but now unit won't drain at end of cycle

If it drains during the other stages of the cycle it sounds like there is a faulty control that tells the unit to drain at the end of the cycle. If it is not draining during any of the stages of the wash cycle it may be a faulty pump.

End of wash cycle, no draining or spinning, but can move to rinse cycle and it agitates again, no spinning after rinse either

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

The drain and spin functions are started when the timer advances to the spin mode.

The motor is reversible. When agitating, the motor spins one way, when going to the drain / spin mode it reverses.

Since the machine agitates, the problem points to the timer.

Spin cycle issue

The problem must have been fixed by now.

I think that the problem was not the belt.

If machine does not advance to spin, check the hose attached to drain pump, ensure that drain pump is working, and check or replace pressure switch.

If that does not fix the problem, check the variable speed motor and gear case.

Whirlpool AWO3761 stuck mid-cycle

The cycle doesn't advanceWhen the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Whirlpool front loader washing machine (AWO3361) WONT DRAIN

Remove drain hose from where it connects to the plumbing under the sink/tub. Inspect the spigot. If clogged, clean. If clean, then tilt machine back and remove drum to pump hose from pump. Check hose and also drain pump. Clear any obstructions.

    Whirlpool Duet Washer Wont Drain

Sounds like a relay on the board. Have you tried to reset the machine by switching it off at the wall and leaving it for about 20 seconds before switching on again?
